Hi, every sympathy. Keep up your fluid intake, ask for prescribed antihistamines and moisturise a lot. I find Aveeno or Olay helps me. Wear cotton next to skin , use cool water when bathing.

Hope this helps, kindest regards Aime xx😸😸

Hi, All of what Aime says.

Also if you want to experiment, ask your doctor first. I know many people who have the itch who have amazing results with a low dose beta alanine powder 1g (this is a bodybuilder amino acid). I personally I have amazing results with this about 35% of the time. Small packets are available for about £5.

I take atarax (hydroxyzine) for itching with pv. Benadryl also works for me Both cause sleepiness, so you get to drink lots of coffee! I take Jakafi now instead of hydroxyurea but did take benadryl with the latter, without problem. I switched to Jakafi because I was itching so much despite hydroxyurea. (I was itching BEFORE taking the meds.)

Try body wash named Love beauty and planet. It’s parabans sulphate and colour free all of which contribute to itchy dry skin.

It’s available at Boots Tesco and Sainsbury’s. They do a full range shower gel body lotion shampoo and conditioner. Pricey but well worth it.

Oh and it’s vegan!! Bottle is made of recycled goods.

Oxfam do a similar one too.

Hope this helps you. X

I think the sensation you describe will be familiar to many people here! Fortunately mine is just low grade. Have you tried / been given any anti histamine meds? Haem happy to prescribe for me but have managed to hold off taking. Also, is it triggered / exacerbated by water? Hydroxy on the whole is supposed to help limit any itching. Hope you manage to resolve.

Suggest you pay attention to what your body is telling you. HU is a toxic substance and not everyone can tolerate it. There are other options, jakafi. Peg-interon, and others. We are each unique in respinse to treatment for MPNs and you deserve the best approach for you. All the best to you.
