Blood transfusion with PV

As a precautionary measure before having an endoscopy I was asked if I was OK to have a blood transfusion. I presume having PV does not preclude me ?

Hi Victor, you will need to ask your haematologist about this and ask him/her to liaise with the endoscopy team. Maz

Even though you have PV, it is possible to bleed to death. There is probably a very low hemoglobin level that a patient has to cross to be eligible for a transfusion. This sounds like boilerplate that authorizes a transfusion in the very rare event that you would desperately need one.
