Well I’ve managed to come away on holiday for 2 weeks and forgotten to bring my Ruxolitinib 🤬 can’t wait for the itching and bone pain to start, it’s going to be such fun............

Oh my goodness, Can you go to the nearest doctor/hospital and explain your predicament. They might be able to contact your specialist to confirm the 'emergency' - I know it says do not stop taking etc etc. Bruddery

Janet, If your in the UK i would recommend you contact your GP, find the address is a local pharmacy that you can get the prescription sent to and you should be able to get your meds that way, alternatively go and speak to your local pharmacy and they’ll be able to help.

These things happen, But 2 weeks is along time to go wothout your meds let alone coping with the side effects when your holiday! I hope you get sorted and enjoy your time xxx

Its not just bone pain and itching that you’ll get from stopping rux suddenly: the warning is of a big rebound effect on the bloods, too. Do please try to do all you can to get some more ASAP: if you can contact the haem who prescribed it for you and explain they may be able to help. What a bummer.

Hi Janet, I left interferon at home when going on a 2 week holiday to Portugal. The local pharmacy were very helpful. They gave me a contact at nearby hospital and I turned up and saw a most helpful pharmacist. She organised a hospital doctor to authorise the prescription and I returned to pick it up after the order for it was processed. I paid for it directly and didn't try to claim on insurance. Probably should have.

I travel with a letter from haematologist that states i have PV and the dosemof interferon i am on. And copy of the last prescription plus a spreadsheet with most recent blood test results. The combination of so helpful hospital pharmacist and this paperwork and being able to pay for it solved the problem.

This is one way to persue it. Good luck.

If you wear a paper from your doctor saying what sort of medics you're on, they will most often replace the forgotten stuff--everywhere.

If not I suppose they will give it to you anyway. But see to having a signed form in your purse in the future (your doctor have them)-- you will also need it at the airports, if the customers find your medics in your bag. There are special forms for people with critical diseases, so hospitals can act immediately if you are taken ill

Phew!!!!!!!! I’ve managed to get some Ruxilitinib thanks to the wonderful managers in this hotel. They have gone all out to to find some for me. The bad news is I had to pay £1100.00 for them but it was better than flying home early. We had to travel 50 mile away to a chemist that had them and no prescription needed. I was starting to feel the effects of not taking them and it isn’t pleasant. I can to enjoying my holiday now.
