A change from cats!

We've had a few beautiful pictures of cats lately so I thought I would show you my "support dogs" - just pets really but such a great help when you're feeling down and thinking ET and other problems are the end of the world, they soon cheer me up!

Just like our G S Ds,no chance of going out in the car without them!!!

Lovely pic, they are 'support dogs', keep us going don't they, the days when we feel dreadful, their wagging tails and beautiful eyes say it all.I 'd try and post mine ,but they aren't exactly 'aaahhh'material, more 'oh my goodness'!!!

Best to you and your lovely dogs.Sally

They love going out in the car, Jess (on the left) looks out of the window all the time, Poppy just dozes until we get wherever we are going. Jess is a rescue, but we've had her over 12 years, she had a major cancer operation earlier this year, so she has done well to recover at her age, 9 year old Poppy is crossed with a springer and is very silly, always making us laugh.

I was guessing both were springer / lab crosses, amazing Jess has kept healthy after her op...we lost our big black G S D (in my pic) to cancer of liver just prior to his op all very sudden....so much in dogs now.Daughter whom we are staying with in U K has 3rescue Lurcher types, they are great and absolutely adore her! My two have a super time chasing about chasing them...no chance of catching up.....the 5 of them look a motley crew all together ,swapping beds and toys, giving us lots of laughs...

Really could not be without dogs.

They’re lovely Liz, and have loyalty written all over their faces. Hope Jess has made a full recovery. It’s beyond worrying when they get ill.

I miss having a dog in my life. When, or if the time is ever right, I will have another rescue dog. My hubby would have another dog tomorrow, but I’m not ready yet.

Enjoy your time with Jess and Poppy.

That's the only trouble with dogs - they don't live long enough!

Hi,

Is it your grief that prevents you feeling ready? I only ask because it may be worth considering that a new dog love in your life might help with the grief. The dog you had would be pleased to know you enjoyed being companions to him so much that you would like another.

My dog died of cancer and I was distraught. I made the mistake of no longer going for walks and rapidly put weight on. The lack of exercise also contributed to my depression. I would have loved another dog. My problem now is that I have severe fibromyalgia and it is painful trying to walk. This means that I can no longer meet the care needs of a dog because I can't meet their exercise needs.

My cat doesn't suffer because of my medical conditions though. Every time I lie down for a rest he takes the opportunity for an extra cuddle.

Good luck!

Hi, just seen your post.

No, it’s not the grief that prevents me from getting another dog, although it was initially. I also have to look after my elderly Mother a lot more these days and still work part time. My husband struggles with Arthritis, so inevitably it would be me doing the walks. It’s a huge commitment to make, and I would want to be 100% sure it’s the right choice. I’m not saying never!

I’m sorry to hear of your loss. Dogs bring so much joy into your life. We have our memories though! Glad your cat brings you love and happiness.

Thanks for your kind thoughts.

Lovely photo and wonderful happy doggie smiles! Great fun seeing the cat photos and now dog ones. I wonder what might be next! Do any of us keep Elephants? :-)
