Hi trail walker, I don’t think you’ve anything to be embarrassed about. I haven’t had one yet but I’ve had a lot of deep injections into joints, bones, etc and they are not nice. If something can help in any way, why not ask for it and accept it as help. We all have our ways of dealing with our conditions and asking for help to make things easier, is not something we should be ashamed of.

Kindest regards, Aime xx😺😺

I had 3 without sedation and at 70(not an old 70) I'm not up for endurance. Even an animal has more sympathy. It is mostly a suck it up view since it doesn't last long. My bent is after you try one, talk to me!

Thank you so much.

Hi Trailwalker, like you BMB do not sit well pain wise with me, though I have had 2 trainees do a couple as I know they need to learn on live patients. Each of them took about 50 minutes, whereas my very first about 15. I have had many procedures connected to my SCT and my pain tolerance is quite good. But with a BMB I'm ok with the marrow extraction it's the bone chip bit of the biopsy that sends pain shooting down my leg and severe pulling on my lower back. I don't know why this is.

When I need another I will ask for some sedation, especially now my back bones have been damaged by high dose steroids.

I recall crying out many oos and ahs quite vocally and when they opened my curtain the ward had gained several other patients. I was a tad embarrassed and apologised for my outbursts in case I had sworn.

So you are not alone and please don't let it bother you in any way.

Cheers Chris

Thanks, Chris...all of these replies have helped me since we all know you can feel very alone. I tend to keep it to myself and move on.

a largely unnecessary procedure in many instances anyway, in my view! certainly don't have another!

Thanks, Jane. I WON'T. I'M FINISHED AND IN MY OPINION...I'LL TAKE IT FROM HERE.

Hi trailwalker

I cried like a baby during my second BMB, the doctor told me to stop crying as he said it does not hurt!! I offered to perform the procedure on him but he declined.

They are unpleasant and I have also said that I wont have another.
