The perfect wine for us MPNers?

I know we should probably be cutting back on the booze (not that I’m very good at taking on board that bit of advice) but couldn’t resist this bottle given the label. Will raise a glass to you all when it gets opened x

Maybe you just have to keep it in the cellar and wait for it to progress :)

Don’t forget to drink it before it goes off! Life expectancy <5 😜

Uh answered with my phone and thought I best clarify! that's life expectancy of the drink, not you, my friend!

I gotta be honest! I love a glass of wine or a G&T at the end of a hard worked day...or a lazy ass day...either is good! My first question to my consultant when I got my diagnosis was “can I still drink wine?” He must have heard the fear in my voice as he told me to go straight home and pour myself a big glass...top bloke!

On a current note, how does everyone fair on drink while taking meds? I’ve read it’s ok to drink moderately while taking Peg, but to avoid the nite before injecting to eliminate dehydration. Has anyone had any adverse effects? I’m just sitting down to my first half glass in a week since starting on Peg...anything I should know? 😶 🍷

Ashamed to admit that every time I encounter a new potential diagnosis or future treatment option one of my first google searches is to see if I can still drink wine! Even when researching stem cell transplants I searched for “survival rates” first and then “drinking wine after transplant”. Skewed priorities perhaps but I just love a glass or two at the end of the day. I had a similar experience with my consultant too - she was very relaxed about the odd glass. Really hope the Peg works out well for you - I’m considering it myself at some point in the future

First glass is going down nicely and I’ve not had a violent reaction! Win!!! I think we’re good 😁

Oddly enough, since starting meds I no longer get a hangover if I overindulge. The ONLY benefit of getting ET!

Ha ha, I laughed out loud at this, would like to get hold of a bottle. I still drink ( probably too much) but pints of water as well 🤗

‘Fascinating’? ‘Wild’? ‘’Alive’? Definitely me in my ET days. 🤣🤣🤣. There are some truly apposite descriptions here. So, for those who like something different and are into minority sports (MPNs anyone?) here’s the description from The Wine Society.

“And now for something completely different! This traditional (indeed, some might say esoteric) taste of Portugal’s Dão region was one of the surprise packages of this year’s Wine Champions tastings. A fascinating, wild and alive wine, made from an unusual combination of both red and white grapes, resulting in a light vivid colour in the glass. The aromas mingle striking red-fruit and herbal scents, while the supremely fresh, vivacious and complex medium-bodied palate drew very enthusiastic marks. A minority sport perhaps, but what a wonderful game it is.”
