Interesting Presentation by Dr Verstovsek on the 24 months results for Ropeginterferon versus HU. Results have been known for several months but this Presentation fills in the detail. Looks very promising and the three year results now eagerly anticipated.
At end year 2, Ropeg (after a slow start) has now overtaken HU. Especially exciting is the improved molecular response which could (fingers crossed) slow progression.
Will this continue to improve in year 3 and will Ropeg continue to pull away from HU?
So far, side effects appear similar level to HU. Remember the problem with Interferon has been some patients really struggle with the side effects
Hi Paul, sorry for my ignorance but is ropeginterferon the same as Pegasus interferon? Btw, thanks so much for always posting all this fab up to date information for us!
Ropeg is a derivative of Peg but hopefully with significantly improved tolerability. This could allow higher doses and longer spacing between injections.
It is interesting that part of the excitement over Ropeg is because might possibly slow progression. Is this changing the general view on Peg (which was that a minority of patients, perhaps as few as only 20%, get good molecular response but no proof that this slows progression)?
Thanks Paul for the explanation. It is looking very hopeful, I will keep my fingers crossed for this one I think & will be keeping a close eye.. Am so grateful for your posts.
Thanks so much for sharing this. The video linked isn’t working for me. Could you please let me know the title of the video o I can search for it on YouTube?
Very well, thanks. Appears to be controlling my symptoms and no side effects. Get first bloods on Tues so will be interesting. Peg is just a less refined version of Ropeg so I’m hoping there is significant read across re molecular response.
