Blood books.

Ha, result!!! thanks again to shiftzz (+ rock on Rachel with the hope we can get an official book) Took my home made version of a ‘blood book’ to my hospital appointment having filled it with what sketchy counts I had previously managed to wrangle out of them, and apart from looking abit ‘taken aback’ to be asked, I actually got ALL my results written in!! Platelets are up a smidgen (boo - though not too far above normal) However I could see at a glance all the others well within normal (so all okaykok as I’d been fretting a bit that the hydroxy might mess with the other counts).

Told her I might be able to get an official version at some point - she didn’t seem madly enthusiastic but I’m sure I’ll be able to ‘train’ them up to put pen to paper each time!!!

Brilliant! I was thinking of doing the same thing for me personally alongside keeping up the pressure to get an official one. Limerick hospital have very kindly sent a blank one to my home address which I’ll see when I get back from the meditation course I’m on. I need to de- stress. And its good to have nice food prepared by someone else.

I would highly recommend it -went in knowing exactly what counts should be (if I was ever normal!), what they were when this journey started, and where I’m at now (simple but super helpful at appointments)

Hi, I have notebooks going back 5 years where I've recorded the main results of my FBCs each time. I don't bother with every single reading, only the relevant ones. My consultant automatically reads them out to me at the start of each consultation, he's never minded. Sometimes I spreadsheet them if I'm looking for a pattern. I wouldn't be without my little book for anything! Best wishes Frances.

I get a copy of the blood results to take to the hospital pharmacy with my prescription, I always take a photo of this on my phone, then fill in the results on a spreadsheet when I get home. Best wishes Lizzie

I ask for, and get, a print-out of my blood test results and then enter the figures into a spreadsheet at home. I've checked the 'normal' range and put that into the spread sheet too, then create a chart so that I can see at a glance what the trend is. So far my platelets are going down and almost 'normal' and none of the other readings are outside the usual range.

I'm not a whiz on Excel spreadsheets but have managed to do it successfully.
