CBD oil, not saying it's for everyone but...

Mica11 profile image
46 Replies

I went against my consultant's opinion, he wouldn't advise me either way, just said he would not take CBD oil personally because the production of it is not regulated.

I only tried it for 2 days, one spray under my tongue per day. I had no niggly aches and pains at all. One son with chronic eczema, who normally scratches his skin for ages upon waking every morning until he can shower took it too and had no itching whatsoever and his first ever full night's sleep in years after his first dose. Other son who is waiting for an MRI on his back used it too and in only 20 mins felt his back pain ease right off. Guess who is buying their own now?

I am not saying this stuff is a cure all but I am so pleased I had the courage to buy it. Just thought I'd let you all know and if you need more than just a paracetamol it's maybe worth it for you too?

Happy New Year to all of you!

Thank you for that. I have crippling back pain, hip leg and feet pain, at the moment on Pregabablin pain patches and Oramorph, Dulls things for a bit but in no way am I clear of pain. I have been considering this for a while and have looked into it extensively. I guess its been a fear factor thing that has stopped me. Its kind of putting my mind at rest that more and more people are trying it and receiving benefit from it. I have seen Holland and Barrett's one that you put a drop under your tongue, if you don't mind me asking which one you use with a spray.

Thanks

I just googled online and read a few of the sites selling it and after reading reviews I went with a company called LoveCBD. They do different sorts from different places and I was quite confused but settled for the one called 'Love CBD Spray' containing 500mg of CBD. There are cheaper and more expensive ones, looks to be to do with the strength. I didn't want too strong a one as I was unsure about it all. Hope this helps.

Thank you Grace. I have bit the bullet and ordered the same. Will let everyone know if it works for me and any benefit re: pain relief . In a way I am quite exited now to give this a try.

Glad it seems to be working with you and your sons.

Take care

I so hope it does help Anne, I'm sure there are some it may not have an effect on, as in most things, but I will keep fingers crossed it at least has some effect for you. I think you can take it 3 times a day if needed. I have only done it once and it's enough for me. I'll be waiting to hear, good luck.

I will definitely let you know. Right now I'm in agony and sometimes it's hard to bare. I tend not to take my oramorph till bed time but if it gives me some relief during the day it will be a miracle for me. Here's hoping.

Yes! Please keep us posted. I’m taking 60 mg of CBD oil per day as studies have linked CBD as a powerful anti inflammatory agent. Did you know that our body has endocanebanoid receptors in both our endo and nervous systems?! Fascinating stuff. I know I feel better with CBD.

Hi

Has your son tried Epsom salts for his eczema?

Peter

Mica11 profile image
Mica11 in reply to flfair

I'm sure he has Peter, every lotion, potion and dietary change has been tried over a great many years under the care of his skin specialist some of which work for a short while then are no longer effective. Poor son has been out of work for 2 years now, after being made 'redundant' ( read sacked for being off due to his skin).

I had eczema for almost 30 years, but only on the face. It went away with the AutoImmune Paleo diet, adjusted to me, getting rid of ALL possible allergens, all non biological cleaners, cosmetics, soaps, detergents. No grains except rice, no milk products. Yes it’s possible to live a fabulous culinary life without this. All Asian countries avoid these food and sugar. Since these western foods are being added, cancer and diabetes is proportionately on the rise.

I wash our clothes with horse chestnuts that fall in October from the trees. Fabulous! For white a bit of baking soda added. No perfumes, no packaged foods, no pesticides preservatives, colourings, flavour enhancers, sugars, etc. We all built up our gut with bone broth, l-glutamine, found ph balance with nettle tea, take all natural supplements, Zinc, vit D should be at 60-80, else deficite! Lots of magnesium, silicium Kolloid, special form, best absorbable, salmon oil as oil not capsules from Norsan. Very clean and powerful antiinflammatory. Vit. C.

Also, my daughter had horrific dermatitis and depression. gone. My husband psoriasis for 43 years. Half is gone. His brain fog gone and he has more energy at 57. I had incontinence, depression most of my life, fatty liver, strange lymph nodes, tooth plaque that wouldn’t go away, constant sinus infections, eye infections, terrible distension and bloating, brain fog, fatigue, some reflux, diarrhea, etc. All gone. It’s all worth a try. Anag

Hi, I’d never heard of CBD oil. I live in the USA. But after reading your post I did some checking on google and saw that it’s being used effectively in lots of research studies and for many different purposes, from epilepsy to schizophrenia, etc. In the USA it’s so highly regulated that researchers have to go through lots of paperwork to access it but it appears that it’s being used for patients too. If you want to learn more, you may be able to access some of this info online.

Yes Katie, I had come across the odd article online in recent years before I was diagnosed. The effect on tremors in Parkinsons disease was quite amazing. This oil can be produced cheaply and in great quantities in comparrison to lots of other drugs and it is awful we seem to be lagging behind due to regulations and paperwork. Not as much profit for the big pharma companies and so they are not happy that this may replace lots of their more expensive, less effective drugs but then that's my cynical head talking.

Grace.

P.S. forgot to mention that it’s also being used for autoimmune diseases. Isn’t excema partly an autominnune disorder? Katie

Hey Grace... :)

Season's greetings & very best wishes...

Thank you for posting this.

I recently posted in response to another friend here my experiences of having used Cannabis Oil (THC) derived drops for my bone pain, as I have MF.

I tried to undertake a 'control' trial by having kepy everything else the same, & just adding the THC oil (drops under the tongue designed to increase & accumulate over a week from 1-10 drops).

Firstly, there was almost instaneous relief from my pain, however, there were other side-effects too...

- My blood platelets (BPTs) rose over circa a two (2) week period by 244pts

- secondly, I found that the THC drops exacerbated my fatigue & lethargy to a point of depression where I found getting out of bed almost impossible. Hence, my mental disposition deteriorated markedly, in my view & in my case...

I am now having a few weeks break, & my first blood test back saw an instant decrease in my BPTs of 250pts, & while that might be just a coincidence, I do not believe much in that avenue of thought where introduced chemistry has been also involved.

In any event, my next experiment is to sample the CBD oil.

I shall provide further feed-back as my results come to hand.

Thanks again & best wishes to all...

Steve

Hi Steve, are you conducting this experiment under your own steam? Doesn't seem coincidence at all your platelets lowered again upon ceasing the THC and I would think it looks to be to blame. I will be very interested to hear how you get on with the CBD. General instructions for the CBD seems to be start with one spray under the tongue and right now with most things being okay with me I have no intention of increasing it. I am also not on a high concentration, I believe, at 500mg.

I read lots of reviews from users claiming it had also cured their mild depression and helped anxiety which in turn helped those who had problems sleeping have an easier time of actually being able to sleep.

I, of course, am only passing on what I have gleaned so far and wouldn't it be nice if there was a natural substance that could actually help where conventional drugs seem to fail in lots of cases.

More power to you and your research! I await your findings.

Have a Happy Hogmanay when it arrives and 'Lang may yer lum reek!'.

THC is pretty strong and different to the CBD oil that Mica is talking about. I have tried THC myself but I found I get too paranoid and it stops me getting off to sleep. However, I am going to look to get a more CBD dominant seed - the best way is to grow your own but not always possible and technically not legal in the UK yet! I have also been talking to a lot of people who make suppostitries as this way you don't so many unwanted side effects. It is about finding what works best for each individual but CBD oil wouldn't give you any unwanted side effects. Best of luck!

katiewalsh profile image

Regarding CDB oil & THC oil. I believe they may be different. My understanding is that CBD oil does not contain the mind altering component/ingredient that THC has so I’d encourage everyone considering these two substances to carefully research it. Katie

socrates_8 profile image
socrates_8

Hey Katie... :)

Your comments above are correct of course.

THC -

Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) refers to a psychotropic cannabinoid and is the principal psychoactive constituent of cannabis.

CBD -

Cannabidiol is one of at least 113 active cannabinoids identified in cannabis. It is a major phytocannabinoid, accounting for up to 40% of the plant's extract.

CBD does not appear to have any psychoactive ("high") effects such as those caused by ∆9-THC in marijuana, but may have anti-anxiety and anti-psychotic effects. As the legal landscape and understanding about the differences in medical cannabinoids unfolds, it will be increasingly important to distinguish "medical marijuana" (with noted varying degrees of psychotropic effects and deficits in executive function) – from "medical CBD". Various breeds/strains of "medical marijuana" are found to have a significant variety in the ratios of CBD-to-THC and are known to contain other non-psychotropic cannabinoids. (Wiki 2017)

Hence, the effects I reiterated above were actually from a THC derived form of cannabis oil & not CBD.

I will however be trialling the CBD on my next 'control' trial.

Hope something here helps those who are also looking into medicinal values of marijuana.

PS. One other important finding was that both my appetite & weight increased significantly over my short trial period (pls see my first post above).

Cheers & Happy NY guys...

Steve

You reminded me I have a friend who had a great contact for good quality oil as that is the only risk, getting overpriced stuff that's not that great. Where did you get yours? CBD Brothers or someone else? I agree it might not be for everyone but it's great for the immune system and I know a lot of people that have had great results. Cannabis oil in general is amazing. The endocannabinoid system is the most underrated and misunderstood and still by some doctors not even recognised as a missing key to our health :) Good to hear such great results for all the family.

Mica11 profile image
Mica11 in reply to

I have no idea if the stuff I have is overpriced or of decent quality Surreygirl, this being my first foray into it. I ordered it online from a company called Love CBD. I looked at a few online and just went with reviews.

I still believe the medical profession is held hostage by the large pharma companies. This substance seems to aid so many different conditions and it's a disgrace that research has not been done before now.

My son went home after Christmas and popped back 2 days later to use my spray again, the previous night he was back to hardly any sleep and the itching returned. I checked with him yesterday to see if he had a better night again, he just replied 'Amazing Mum'. I am waiting on his arriving in the post.

Thank you for commenting, I am learning more and more from all the lovely helpful people on here.

in reply to Mica11

I think I have heard of them actually. Oh yes sadly the medical profession is.. I think we need both, we need alternative and western medicine combined. But I blame the Government as they benefit too - so corrupt sadly, but don't want to dampen a postive post :)

Be careful, I've been using cbd for 3months, at first it was brilliant but sadly my platelets have risen and I am feeling how I did before the chemo. I have come off it now, so be careful, I started off 3 times a day for 2 weeks then to 1-2 a day to 1. I will try again but keep to 1 every 2 days.

Mica11 profile image
Mica11 in reply to Angelinagaffer

I am back at the consultant in the middle of Feb so I will find out then Angelinagaffer. In all honesty I have not really felt the need for it lately and so I maybe only use it once a week or so and only one spray at a time.

Sorry to hear yours have risen, not good at all. Hope you find a happy medium.

Apologies for taking so long to answer, I seem to have missed a couple of messages on this thread.

Dear Mica!

I just looked into your page and found this post. I agree with the CBD. My daughter had rheumatoid arthritis from the age of 2 after the meningitis shot (We got rid of that with diet). Two years ago, where she was older and healthier, she got Fibromyalgia after the meningitis shot (since she had no more antibodies and 1/8 ticks in Austria carry meningitis and the tiny beasts are really everywhere!)

Well, only the strongest pain killers got rid of most of her pain and she was dazed. Numbed. Which means, there is a tad of brain damage with every pill. I got CBD from a doctor. He didn’t know what strain it was. Well, lo and behold, immediate and complete success with no side effects. All pain gone with 10 drops. We weren’t told under the tongue, but will do that next time. Hallelujah.

There is an ET sufferer in the States with a fascinating life story, which includes CBD. Jessica Harschbarger. Her platelets have gone down with CBD. She was an activist to legalize it for ET and was successful. She’s now manager of one of the dispensaries in Illinois. Look her up. I am curious about CBD beyond belief.

Also try internet under “the Sacred Plant”. It’s an eye opener. They just had a run of the documentary series. I saw it a year ago. Israel has been studying Cannabis as medicine for 40 years. Every cell of our body has endo-cannabinoid receptors. It seems to be a thorn in the medical industry’s side, therefore research has been blocked in many countries (especially US) for almost 60 years. I think we are on the right path. But, there needs to be more research on the right strains, of course. If you have something that works for your kids, make sure you get the same thing again! 👍 all the best! Anag

Hi I would also like to know if you find a cbd oil that works , I have purchased numerous ones over the last few years ranging from £15 a small bottle to £150 a small bottle for myself and my daughter who has scholisis and haven’t found any that works yet . Would be interested though if somebody finds one that works as there is so much rubbish about and you don’t really know what’s in it

Mica11 profile image
Mica11 in reply to Dolman

My original post is 2 years old now and I changed to CBD Brothers oils until recently. I now have a connection to a very pure, almost clear oil with no funky taste that the sister of my Reiki Master/Teacher has a license to grow in the USA. He only gets enough from her to supply to friends unfortunately.

There is a Facebook Group I have been a member of since I started on CBD oil that is very helpful and informative if you care to join I am sure you will get good advice. It does seem that no one oil fits all as we are all so different. It can be an expensive search if the one you try does not fit with the receptors in your body.

It's called "CBD CONSUMER GROUP UK/EU"

I do hope you can both find one that works for you.

Hi. Just a word to the wise. I believe in the United States CBD is still illegal to transport from one US state to another or from somewhere in US to a location out of the country unless you can demonstrate that it has less than 0.4% THC in it. So folks need to be cautious. Katie

Mica11 profile image
Mica11 in reply to katiewalsh

It's all done legally Katie, she has all her legal stuff well in hand, so it must be under the THC limit. I found no weird extra effects from the little I have taken.
