I was diagnosed in April & have had regular venesections since then, I am now iron deficient & it's looking like Hydroxycarbamide next. However I am seeking advice re a skin condition I have developed over the past 10 months, it is mainly on my upper body & consists of round dry patches which become very pronounced after a shower, these have got worse lately, I just wondered has anyone else suffered with this, or am I suffering from something unrelated.
I would appreciate any help.

See your GP or Haematologist as you may now be prone to surface skin problems. If you go on Hydroxycarbamide you will need to also be even more careful about skin problems. It’s probably nothing to worry about but get it checked.
Hello Sueworthington, yes I had red patches ,face body hands too were red. This with itchy eyes and fatigue led to my P V diagnosis eight years ago.Been on Hydrea now for all that time,my face kept its red 'dolly'patches, one ,last year became very scaly and was in fact carcinogenic.I had major surgery to remove it and other cells lurking there. So keep out of the strong sun if you do go on to H U. I feel strongly now that we are not given enough warning of skin cancer risk, here in France where I live now,the dermological experts are well aware of it.Still get other rashes, chest body mostly,I am told 'typical of H U.' Sorry to be a Jonah ,but I would not wish my experience on any one. I wish you well and on the good side H U works well !! Being blonde and fair skin was a bad omen for me,Very best to you don't get worried, just be aware.
