bladder problems

Hi everyone,

Woke up yesterday not feeling 100% but just shook it off. This morning I have a really sore bladder.. I think I have a bladder infection and don't know what to do. I know the advice is to get antibiotics straight away with any infection because of the suppressed immune system caused by the hydroxycarbomide but it's Sunday. My hubby has gone to the supermarket to see if he can get anything from the chemist. If that doesn't work I don't know if I should call the after hours doctor or wait till tomorrow? Any advice, especially if anyone has experienced this, would be very welcome.

Me, I'd call the after hours doctor. ASAP.

Sorry to hear this Jill. There's nothing worse than getting ill at the weekend!

All I can suggest is to drink as much water as possible for now to help flush out any potential bacteria. Are your symptoms like cystitis?

I think if you develop a temperature or get any worse then consider phoning the 'out of hours' service.....and good luck with that one!

Hi Jilly, you do have a time! Guess wise to check with doctor, but there is an incredible natural alternative to prescription antibiotics and that is oregano oil (also called oil of oregano). Oil of oregano contains two powerful compounds of carvacrol and thymol that have powerful anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties. You may have oregano in your garden, in which case, eat loads! But maybe possible to pick up some oil of oregano in a supermarket today, if it has a pharmacy department. So sorry you continue to have one problem after another. Kindest regards, Tinkerbell13

Oregano oil. Hi Tinkerbell. You mentioned oregano oil in one of your blogs. How do you use it and how frequently etc. Thanks in anticipation. Mary

Hi Mary,

The oregano oil can be used as an antiviral, antibacterial, antifungal antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, digestive, ... You can also put it directly on to the skin, or through a carrier oil like coconut oil.

(Re bladder problems, you probably already know about the brilliant cranberry capsules. Cranberry juice not good if has any sugar in it.)

Do hope it all helps you. Very best wishes, Tinkerbell13 p.s. isn't this Forum so great, and just a lovely lot of people supporting one another!

Hi Tinkerbell. Thank you so much for replying. What I'm not sure about is how much do we use l.e. One drop, two? If taken orally is it mixed with anything, and how often. If used with a carrier oil, again, what percentage of oregano is added? and how often. Hope I'm not bein a nuisance but I know very little about Oregano other than its bacterial value. You sound as though you are the expert! Yes, this forum is invaluable knowing we support each other. Again, THANK YOU! Hugs and hope. MAry

Hi again, sorry re delay, as a bit offline, but best to have a few drops of oregano oil 50/50 with olive oil or virgin coconut oil....either to eat, or to put on skin. If worried, chat to a doctor who is 'open to natural remedies' too....we are blessed with a good GP, who is always happy to discuss both prescriptive drugs and 'natural cures'.

Can also go online yourself and just google in 'best way to take oregano oil'....I don't like to be dogmatic, as everyone is different. I tend to use these oils 'as and when' and just use a drop or two at a time, but mixed with olive oil or coconut oil, or even water. Best wishes, and do let us know how you get on. Tinkerbell13

Thanks again Tinkerbell. Will keep you posted. Am seeing my GP tomorrow and will discuss it with her. You never know - she might be aware of alternative treatment - I know many aren't. Anything is better than the weeks of antibiotics I've been taking. Watch this space. Take care. Mary.

Do let us know how you get on, Mary....these endless antibiotics can be miserable...hope you manage to take lots of probiotics too, by the way.....really 'good ones'!! Trust GP will be really helpful. Best wishes, Tinkerbell13

thanks for all the kind replies as usual. I couldn't stand it anymore and called 111. Because of everything else I was offered an appointment 45 minutes later at an out of hours clinic. Doctor was lovely. He looked at my file and said "You do know that if you have a temperature then I will have to admit you". I hope he didn't see me crossing my fingers. Anyway, no high temperature but a dip test of my urine showed blood and high white blood cell count. He has put me on a 7 day course of antibiotics and I am to take in another sample after the course is completed. Paracetamol is helping with the discomfort and I am drinking loads of water. I knew I could count on you guys for advice. It's funny I ask you all before the GP lol. I was just telling hubby about that Oregano Oil. I am going to get some in for emergencies, it sounds amazing x

Even natural alternatives can interact with prescription drugs or have blood thinning properties. It's always wise to check them out thoroughly. I always use Medscape drug interaction checker before I start anything new - even if it's been prescribed by a doctor. The site also includes better known herbal or natural supplements. It is a great go to for advice

Didn't know such a site existed, thanks for that, going to check it out as I am on so many prescription tablets its scary. For the first time last night I was nauseas after taking my antibiotics so I did wonder if they were conflicting with my other evening tablets x
