HYDREA DOSAGE.

I am on four capsules each day, twenty eight a week. I was wondering if anyone was on a higher dose than this. My platelets are hovering around 695, if they keep increasing the haematologist is considering increasing the medication.

How do you feel on 4 each day....when I have my 3 day I really feel worse than the 2 days.....hope your platelets lower soon,mine are just 127 ,dropped even lower with the higher dose, Best Wishes to you

Hi Inca Seem to have no problems on 4 aday, sometimes a bit fuzzy headed. At the moment I am having sinus problems and this could also cause the fuzzy head.

You are the first person that I have seen on here taking that dose...that's how much I take. I have been on that amount for two years now. And finally my playlets have stayed in the 550 range. Side effects for me have gone away as I've become used to the meds. Not crazy about taking this much but it's the only thing that has worked for me.

I was on that dosage for 10 years and did really well on it until last year and due to leg ulcers have now started on peg inteferon- would prefer to be on the hydroxy as have two bad days a week now, so hang in there

I was on that dose for a long while and like you platelets were still not really under control. I progressed to MF so changed to Ruxolitinib and now struggling to keep platelets above 50!! I found a high dose of HU was ok except it lowered my white count and neutrophils. I have been neutropenic for years. How do you feel about interferon? Might be worth discussing it with your haematologist

Thank you for comments, my haematologist has not offered any other forms of medication at this stage. I see her again in June. I hope all goes well for you in the future.
