Thombocytopenia

I'm s bit anxious today. My haematologist is going to phone me about the bmb that I took last thursday. The thombocyte number is diving, in spite of 12,5 mg prednisolone that I'm on for polymyalgia. Difficult to stay calm now.

The hamatologist called me on sunday. He told me that he is a bit confused about the microscopy, and he is going to ask the other specialists at the center to look at it. There seems to be a little bit too few cells in the marrow, but they all seem to have normal cell structure. The problem is the thrombocytopenia.

The haematologist asked me about my medications. I take a lot of medicine, because I have many diagnoses.

Some years ago, I took Ibuprophene (don't remember the dose) daily, and I remember that the thrombocytes dropped to 125. I stopped taking Ibuprophene, and the number normalized. November 2014, I went on a 9 days holiday trip to Spain. The schedule was very hard, and the only painkiller I had was Ibuprophene

When I was back home, headache struck me as a lightning, and I was hospitalized for a few hours after two days in agony. Nothing wrong was found, exept for low platelet number (104), which nobody told me or my gp. My question is if anyone know whether Ibuprophene can make permanent damage to the platelet production?
