I had ET and the increase in my RBC made my haem want to investigate further. After having a red cell mass test I was told my diagnosis has now changed to PV.

Hope this helps.

I have ET for 10 years and no I don't have that problem - if anything the HU decreases my RBC at times so the dose gets adjusted.

Hi and Happy New Year, my RBCW "width" (the size of the red blood cells) not the red blood cells themselves had increased since being on HU. I saw Dr Spivak at John Hopkins he is an MPN expert and he said that is caused by HU. I have noticed the change since I started the HU and only since I started the medicine. Is that what you are talking or just your red blood cells? Mickey
