when hemo tested for CML said they could cure that and it would take care of the et. So why not just treat the ET with what they would use for CML?

I guess it depends what they mean by 'cure' and how aggressive the CML treatment is. The normal treatments for ET are low dose chemotherapy or immunotherapy but used long term as once you stop the platelets tend to start increasing again. I suspect the more aggressive chemo used for cancers such as CML wouldn't be justified for ET but as always it's worth discussing further with your haem to understand the full picture...

The only know curative treatment for any MPN as far as i know is a stem cell/bone marrow transplant. This is only usually carried out for high risk patients due to the risks involved. Maybe this is what was mentioned for CML too?
