Hi Sparko - it's quite common in MPN's. I get it when I overheat usually in bed and affects torso, arms, legs. It passes after I cool down. And you may have read a number of times on here about itching associated with showering or bathing which in my case lasts a tad longer than my overheat itch and is more severe. All I can say is 'Chill out dude' and don't worry you're 'normal' in our world.

Hi Sparko35, I also have PV and my back itches constantly. I scratch until I bleed and it drives me mad. Happy scratching. Mel x

Hello Sparko make sure you drink masses of water and then some. It does seem to make a difference to me regarding itching. Best wishes

Apparently we Folk with MPN's tend to produce more histamine. It has something to do with the haywire in blood production. Someone on another MPN list serve told me that OTC Zantac helps with the itching. I have been using it ever since (with doc OK) and it really helps. I don't get how it works since Zantac is for stomach acid....but it does. I have also used spray on topical anti histamine which works for a little while. It's great because it reaches that one itchie spot in the middle of your back, you know the one....

Hi thanks for your reply's. I do seem to have to drink alot anyway as i get short of breath and a dry throat but no harm in drinking more if it helps the itching might try the OTC Zantac is it available over the counter or perscription. Had another blood test this morning and all fine. Stay well

Hi sparko

Itching seems to bother me most of the time and does not tie in with abnormal blood counts, I do get sweats, etc as well and they make the itching worse. I am on two lots of anti-histamines, find moisturising cream a soother. Try not to scratch but rub skin instead - that was someone else's tip previously. Also drink plenty of fluid. Hope this helps, every sympathy - its not nice! Kind regards Aime (PS I have PV too).

Hi

I'm fortunate not to have mega problems with itching, but my feet do itch if they get hot, mostly in bed - I usually just stick them out the bottom of the duvet!
