We with blood problems .imagine your body is a fish tank and all the fish are sick,we don't need to medicate the fish .we need to clean or change the water! So we need to flush out the system...detox ,first.wash out the tank ,then refresh the whole body ,so home made soup, fresh juice, water, then green diet ,dairy is not required ,so don't block up your cells ,eat your way back to a healthier body ,it's on line read the results ,I did it has helped so much .hand in hand with the treatment from hospital,

I am currently reading this book after Twinkly recommended it to me. I intend to read the whole book before changing my diet. I must admit I am finding it quite heavy going, all may become clear as I read on, but at the moment I am wondering what I will eat and how it will fit in with a social life - meals out with friends etc. it's a total change from everything I normally eat and I do eat healthily now. I think I may have to wait until after the excesses of Christmas!

Hi piggie ,no need to starve over Christmas ,I was already onto healthy eating last year .all vegetables are good ,lovely fruit and nuts ,figs ,dates ,strawberries ,turkey is o,k,lots of juice instead of wine, but mushrooms are a fungus gooie and bad ,live on dyeing wood,it's easy just think where does it come from before you put it into your mouth ,,

I have not read this book, however, all of my adult life I have cared about what I ate and where it came from. Buying organic before it was fashionable, soya milk, non-meat eater and only fish from pure waters would I buy - my husband is completely the other way and you may imagine what our shopping trips for food were like. I would cook meat for him and guests as I was not evangelistic about things and just truly believed we are what we eat. Fruit and salads, masses of veg, huge amount of nuts and the rarest of occasions would see me drink alcohol only because I don't particularly like it not a prejudice.

Then a handful of years ago I introduced organic chicken to my diet as my nails were so thin and brittle and then 18 mnths ago I discovered 'Polly' was to be part of my life. I can't exactly blame my husband when he comments - so what about the healthy food then, has not helped you much has it.

So I will watch this space and see how others get on with the new eating regime but if the food is good for us, then isn't it good for the cancer cells anyway?

Is this book very different from how I ate once? Now I am kinder on myself and not so strict as quite frankly getting through every day at times is such hard work - mind you, fruit and veg seem to whizz through my system rather fast and I wonder if it is the Allipurinol - anyone else had this problem.

Best wishes to all x

Hi Linds

I was introduced to Polly and her friend Vera in late 2011 when I was diagnosed.

When I was first diagnosed I decided to be as healthy as possible. I cut out most if not all red meat fro my diet in favour of chicken or fish (which I had always ate rather a lot of anyway). I decided to go on the Sacred Heart "fat-burning" soup diet and I just love the taste of the soup. I lost weight and felt great but I had previously been diagnosed with diverticulitis as well as a hiatus hernia and ulcers. After a time my gastric problems were exacerbated and when I attended the gasto-intestinal clinic the consultant put me on the Beverley diet which includes a massive amount of dried fruit of all kinds. This made me very sick and I had to phone her to say I could not continue with it. I am now eating more root vegetables which do not seem to aggravate my system so much and not so many greens. When I went for diagnosis it was because of, among other things, purple painful toes and was put on Allopurinol for only one course and then taken off it again so I am now wondering if being taken of it coincided with my feeling bad again when I had felt so well on the soup diet. I suppose it is all a minefield but unfortunately for me nuts are out as well as any seedy things. Are you on Allopurinol permanently? My worst problems are, fatigue even after a good night's sleep, hot and cold flushes and low mood from time to time.

Hello Crazy Daisy,

I am so sorry, I have only just seen your reply. Normally I would get a nudge by e mail but dont know what happened here. To answer your question about Allopurinol - yes, I am taking it all the time 300mg daily. I have thought about asking to drop it but the gout was really bad and my GP says the figures for acid production are still high. I so understand about the fatigue - went for a walk this morning and arrived home wearing lead boots and then slept for an hour and it was still only 1pm! The hot and cold flushes also a big, big yes which can be so embarrassing. Now the low mood is interesting too because I have only just been experiencing this but it has been horrid. I woke up one night this week and felt very afraid but nothing to be afraid of unless I had, had a nightmare. I was particularly low all that day. Have started taking Kalms (a herbal tablet) and hope they will help me through this period. How long have you been on this up and down ride?

Best wishes and Happy New Year, Linds

Sorry, have just seen that it was 2011 you were diagnosed as I was in January 2012.

We all seem so different in our experiences, so individual and I think yours. from what you say seem to match mine exactly. I feel that I have been on this up and down ride pretty constantly but I am so thankful that in between the bad times I can feel completely normal. I do wake up screaming sometimes as well but cannot recall a bad dream when I am awakened. I would be interested to hear how you get on with Kalms. I have been reluctant to take anything that might make me feel ever more fatigued but may be wrong in that assumption. I am seeing my GP at the moment to try to deal with it.

At least we all have one thing in common, bearing in mind that so little is known that our doctors cannot really advise us and that is that we try to help ourselves in any way we can and pass on our results to each other in the hope it may help someone else. I find this site so helpful and don't feel so alone because of it.

Thank you Linds. We don't want sympathy but empathy is invaluable to us all I think.

With all good wishes for the New Year.
