I usually have vertigo with but I had labyrinthitis (inner hear infection) few years ago and doctor said I would always easily get vertigo. Check out atlas vertebra (first vertebra) misalignment that can also cause vertigo. I am going to a chiropractitioner to get it checked x

I went to the doctor and was sent to ENT with recurrent dizziness, and was subsequently diagnosed with migraine. I don't get such awful dizziness that I fall over or anything, but I often feel a bit off-kilter, and if it's really bad it's like being on a ship in a storm, with nausea thrown in.

I get the full-blown migraine with aura, but also migraine without headache, which for me is mostly feeling dizzy & sick & not being able to concentrate. I have neck problems which I feel are strongly linked to the migraines. I've tried stugeron but it made me very drowsy.

It helps to keep well-hydrated and to not let my blood sugar drop.

Yes, I have migrainous vertigo. Not all my migraine attacks have vertigo and usually I have done something to trigger this, such as working on my balance, been in busy shopping centre or doing housework. My migrainous vertigo attacks usually last 4-8 hours.

I have occasional vertigo associated with migraine but I have menieres disease which causes severe dizziness, sickness etc. Now I have medication for it the vertiginous attacks are thankfully quite rare. If one does develop I use prochloroperazine maleate which is quite effective. The balance exercises are excellent and as I am a sailor it appears that during the sailing season when I regularly challenge my balance, I feel better than during the winter when I don't sail so much...may be a host of other causes, but during the winter, rapid changes of temperature (icy cold water on my head) seem to have a negative effect so I don't do that any more. Most of the bad vertiginous attacks started whilst working at a computer so the habit of taking a regular (20 min break) stretching exercises etc could be effective in reducing it. I never go anywhere without stemetil, ashore or afloat.

I had vertigo several years before the migraines set it - think they call it silent migraine. Had a load of tests, but no one could work out what it was and I lived with it in the end.

Yes, this type literally knocks you off your feet, it is very very severe. For me the medication for vertigo and migraine just went straight through me and out the other end, or up as being sick. (I am very sensitive to most medications). I sympathise with you as this is very rarely taken on board by most GP's or Neorulogists. They just pass it off as migraine, they do not fully understand the cause, so for a 'cure' , this is going to take some time.

I really do sympathise with you on this one, I really hope you get your inner balance sorted out.

Hey everyone! Just saw this and wondered how you were all getting on? I too have migraine associated vertigo silent migraines (or migraine varient balance disorder as my neuro said). I just wondered how are things going ? Have things improved?? Have you found anything helpful? I've had the daily symptoms for about two and a half years. I have been on pitzotifen which helped somewhat but has stopped working and now have put on three stone and am so tired. It would be great to connect and hear your experiences xxx.
