Ajovy injections

I’m lucky enough that Ajovy has given me my life back. Can anyone advise how to take on a plane safely please? Can the injections take the cabin pressure ok if I take in hand luggage for example? Thank you.

Hi Janine, Ajovy has transformed my life too. 😊

I haven't been on a plane with the injections yet, but I think I would ask advice from the pharmacy who deliver your meds(.mine is Pharmaxo).

All the best,

Pippa

When I was Ajovy and I was going on a flight they said I couldn't take it with me bc it was a long flight and the injector couldn't be kept cold enough. So they advised me to delay my next one until the day I was flying and take it then instead.

You can but a very expensive custom made container which will keep it cool but I don't know how long for. I always work around it by injecting it a bit earlier/later for a couple of months so that I can do it at home. When I spoke to Pharmaxo they said if I travelled with it they would give me a letter to show at customs but I decided I didn't want the hassle!

Hi when I was on Ajovy my consultant told me I could take my injection that was due whilst I was away either slightly early or when I returned. Otherwise you would have to travel with ice blocks in a cool bag, and a letter to advise what the medication is. Might be worth contacting your consultant for advice based on your due date and travel dates. As previously mentioned it may depend on the length of your flight as well, plus being able to store it correctly at your destination. Enjoy your trip!

I flew from Canada to Heathrow this time last year. TENA gave me a letter stating what the drug was. I put it in a soft sided insulated lunch bag with a frozen cold block. The total journey was over 15 hours door to door and it was still well within temperature range on arrival. I carried it in my carry on and had no problem at all with security. My injection was due mid trip,so I kept it in our host’s fridge until it was time. Just takes pre-planning, is all.

I have taken Imitrix injections in my carry on bag for years. I keep it in the original box and it has a RX label on it. Not sure how long the entire trip is but a cold pack that last a long time should work.

I have never needed any letters and have never been questioned.

Best of luck
