Consecutive auras, anyone?

Last evening, I experienced a first. After a typical aura had developed and processed its way out of my right side field of view, another one started immediately. The second one started slower, stayed more central, and progressed out of my left side visual field. It was accompanied with some mental fog, and a bit of nausea.

I went to bed early. And today, I have the usual postdrome head throb upon bending over, that sort of thing. Typically that persists into the 3rd day after a full-blown aura/headache event.

I'm in my 60s now, and have had these off and on since my teen years. But I've never had a back-to-back aura event. Is this a thing?

hello there, I too have had migraines since my teens. Some with aura and some without. As I have got older(post menopause) the headache part has become more infrequent.I have had a couple of auras in the same day, then maybe another the day after but with no headache.I do have what I call a funny head after, a bit fuzzy, a bit lethargic and tired. Some members of my family(women) have seemed to get the aura only as they've gotten older. It is certainly a thing in my family.Hope this helps.

Thanks! I've had more aura-only events too as I've aged. It's a somewhat strange malady, isn't it?

yes, it is.I suppose that's why it's so difficult to treat, different things are triggers for different people.

Yes , I have had a few episodes when one aura came after another on the same side without head pain but a gnawing ache in the eye and socket.Like you , I either had the funny head and pain around the eyes when moving afterwards , on the day after. I usually drink more water after migraines , including migraine with aura because I know that strange head feeling , or the dry feeling in the eyes is a sign of dehydration.

Sometimes , my migraine with aura happens a day or two after other migraine with pain on the opposite side of my head has happened , or vestibular migraine has been happening.

I wonder whether migraine with aura , or a series of migraine with aura , happen because I have been relying too much on my vision to cope with the migraines that happened before it , or just managing with doing simple things when I have the pain puts more strain on my eyes.

I have had migraines since my teens and am now in my 50s and menopausal. In the last couple of years, I also have less headache after an aura and on a couple of occasions I have had aura in both eyes at the same time, and have started to get migraines without aura. This past week I have had two auras separated by a day, then a terrible headache for a couple of days and then another aura! I have never experienced anything like this before. It’s worrying when migraine behaves differently after all the long years of having them, isn’t it?

I once had three aura episodes more or less back to back, though the third was about half a hour after the previous two had passed, and then I felt like death, just went to bed. The only unusual thing (to me anyway) about your experience was the visual disturbance changing direction, I've never had that, mine always starts on the left, expands and moves over to the right. Although actually, now I don't eat cheese in particular or dairy in general, I don't get them at all any more, unless I give in and eat cheese, as I do periodically because I love it... Such a relief to get rid of them, because they were becoming daily and increasing in number too, it had got so bad I'd be worried about driving to the supermarket in case one started, as it often did.

Hi! If a migraine is not accompanied with the typical bad head you probably need to see you Dr as an aura migraine with no pain can mean you could have a stroke. I have migraines with no pain. I used to get really bad migraines that put me to bed and I’d be sick. I now just get the occasional aura migraine. There used to be a lady on here that gave me the advice to see myDr. My Drprescribed asprin for me which I took for a while. I had to stop them because I bruised so much. I think I’ve only had one aura migraine this year and it wasn’t a full blown one. I get that I get a fuzziness in front of my eyes then the zigzag starts. The last one I had was only a little zigzagging but I have had one where the zig zagging fills my vision. Please don’t worry about what I’ve said just query it. I’ve been told by my pharmacist now to take the asprin as soon as an aura migraine starts.

Can I ask if anyone reading this also gets vertigo.. I had vertigo when I got up in the morning. It didn’t last long. Then later in the day I had an aura migraine.l was wondering if the two can be connected.

I don’t get aura very often but they scare the heck out of me when I do. I had that once about a month ago - one went & I started to carry on as normal then almost immediately another one started. Really scared me but 👀 back I think it was that the first one hadn’t completely gone- so it was the same one if that makes sense. I always get that the next day after though- feel like I’ve been hit by a truck. I really feel for you they are so horrible.
