Hi there, nearly 2 years ago I was diagnosed with new daily persistent headache by the headache clinic. I’m now trying to go back, as my physio who deals with headaches/migraines (it’s her thing), spoke to me about visual snow syndrome, after chatting to me at length and me seeing her for various other health concerns.
Visual snow fits my symptoms - but it also as well as new daily persistent headache, as they both have different factors, both of which I have. Is it possible to have both?
I have various other health ‘quirks’, including joint hypermobility and fibromyalgia, so I don’t know if they are affecting my headaches too.
It’s just weird to have two things that sum up my weird and wonderful symptoms, I’m concerned because of medications, I don’t want to make it worse.
Can anyone help?

Visual Snow Disorder is not something I know much about except for two things. One is that it is not considered to be a headache disorder but a feature of cortical hyperexcitability and secondly it is a comorbid feature of migraine with aura. So in a nutshell while it is more than possible to have two headache disorders at the same time these two together wouldnt be classed as such.
Hey there, thanks for your reply. The issue is getting visual snow diagnosed - I don’t know if the headache clinic will have to diagnose it, as there are headaches associated with it, plus all the other fun and exciting things haha 😂- my physio who deals with this says the same.
The medications, well, some are the same and some different.
I have many other health conditions, all the medications counteract each other and I have to chose which one I want fixed!! Sad but true. I just do t want to take medications that might help one and make the other worse. NDPH isn’t great on its own - it’s hard work in fact, throw in my body and I feel like it’s a constant battle.
I’m just trying to do the best I can and make sure I don’t make anything worse x
I have chronic migraines and the treatments for that and NDPH seem to be the same. I suppose the hope is if you could successfully treat the NDPH then it in itself would quieten down the cortical hyperexcitability and therefore the visual snow?
