Hello Brychni. I took Nortriptyline last year. What works for one person won't always work for someone else. Unfortunately, that's the thing with preventives for migraines, nothing works for everybody. It didn't do anything for me except making me tired all the time, dry mouth, constipation, bloating and weight gain, and hives. I took it for many months in the hope that my body would adjust to it and would allow me to go up to the max dosage. But after 4 months I had to admit defeat (never managed over 50mg). However, I don't believe it would have ever worked for me, whatever the dosage. I managed to come off it quite quickly (a few weeks), which makes me think that the stuff really didn't help and that my body was too happy to get rid of it.

Hopefully it will work for you quite rapidly, as it is not nice to have to put up with medic side-effects on top of all your other aches and pains.

All the best.

I received a occipital nerve block 3 weeks ago which has helped as I’ve been in chronic daily pain with migraines for the past 3 months.. I Had a phone consultation with nuro yesterday and they are starting me on this too.. So am really interested to know peoples experiences too.. Hope it helps you!

It worked for me over a series of years, but unfortunately my migraines recently were triggered again following an innocuous medical procedure with a local anaesthetic and I am having to start upping the dosage again having virtually come off it (down to just 10mg).

Weight gain is definitely an issue using it though.
