Has anyone stopped taking Topamax (topiramate) and switched to Trokendi XR?

Hi, My neurologist is suggesting that I change my medication from Topamax to trokendi xr because she says there are fewer or no side effects. Has anyone tried this? She told me that I would just stop the Topamax and switch without needing to taper. Have you experienced any problems doing this? I’m taking 50mg of topiramate.

I can probably just stop the topamax and start the trokendi then. Thank you.
