Currently trying to taper off Tramadol as my Neurologist feels these may be actually causing my headaches now. Very classic symptoms, morning fog, base of skull and temple pain, tight band around the head until I get up and take a tablet. Any advice?

I had an unfortunate experience with Tramadol when I had to get off Prednisone for my rheumatoid arthritis. If your neurologist can't get you off Tramadol, you need a new neurologist. Find a pain expert who isn't so high-flown. I worked for neurologists; they don't OWN physical pain. Tramadol might work for someone who has a temporary situation to heal from (say, a burn victim?), but for chronic pain, Tramadol was a very potent but not really helpful thing for me. I still hurt but my rheumatologist is conscientious about finding the right solution.
Hi Torieb. You will not get free from migraines unless you first come off your painkillers and break the cycle. You are in a rebound headache. Please trust me on this? I am a migraineur with a 45 year history of daily migraines. Do yourself the biggest favour of your life and buy Dr Josh Turknett’s book called “ The Migraine Miracle.” He is a migraineur himself. His advise has radically and magically changed my life! I now suffer about 3 or 4 migraines a month compared to daily migraines. And I didn’t even go glutenfree as per his suggestion! I kept a pain diary and gradually experienced more and more consecutive painfree days. His simple explanation of how a migraine works, is an eye opener and you will begin to understand why it is absolutely essential that you come off your painkillers first, otherwise you will NOT see results. Please buy his book! You have NOTHING to lose but your life and health to gain back. I sincerely hope I will one day in the future receive a reply from you being a different, painfree person and in control of your migraines. Be blessed!
