Other than migraines, get sharp stabbing shooting pains at temple at times. So bad I have to stop what I'm doing for 5 minutes. Also, noticed in last year or two, certain areas (patches) of scalp can be very tender to touch. Not necessarily at times of actual migraines.
Icepick headaches?: Other than... - National Migraine...
Icepick headaches?
I get this too. I have pain that sporadically shoot through my eye (always left ) ice pick pains at the back of my head and down my neck. Tender patches on my scalp as if I've had a bobble too tight in my hair all day (i have short hair, no bobbles ). My temples hurt if I push them, tender muscles and i feel like i have an elastic band over my haid (pressure feeling like sunglasses on my head)
All whilst i have no migraine!! Not every day just sporadically.
I get the tender patches. I've always chalked it up to nerve pain as opposed to headache. Also get zapping in one ear once a while. Also nerve. Advil helps.
I've always suspected a lot of my headaches were related to nerve overload due to upper back and neck issues caused by scoliosis. Aimovig has helped my migraines immensely, and had even helped with tension type headaches. I was excited to try it because it was supposed to help with the nerve stuff.... and it's amazing. I've taken 5 Amerge (triptan) since Sept 19. I usually take 18 per month.
Wow, 18 a month. That can lead to rebound headaches which are really bad too. Glad the aimovig seems to be helping you. I am on the fence regarding the cgrp injections. Do not know long term effects yet. I also hate needles so that could be my real reason. I am so used to these migraines....sort of. Trying the cefaly off and on.
The injection is uncomfortable but not painful. Nothing compared to the allergy injections I get every week. Lol. And I figure I would have long term effects from 30 years (so far) of pain meds, so I am fine with switching to something new. Feels good to feel like a normal person most of the time. Before, it was constant management of hovering pain and discomfort. I hope you find relief.
Hello
I have ice pick pain on a daily basis although the number of times a day varies😩i have chronic hemicrania continua which means that i have a headache every day all day that too varies in severity. Anyway wanted to let you know that an ice pack placed on the area where the ice pick pain is helps me. Good luck with finding something that works for you🤞
