Headaches and hormones
Patches and gel just made me worse. I found a herbal gp who made a tincture, no more flushes or increased appetite.👍
Tinted glasses for aura migraines too.
Had to go with 20 mg of propanol in am + 10 mg amytryptyline in evening and it works great! Took my go and I 4 months to find something that worked... thought I would die!! Had them EVERY DAY for 2 months, lost 10 pounds from living on crackers and Perrier water due to nausea, not fun!!! Into my 4 year now.... Hoping menopause comes soon, but taking its time 4 th year of perimenopause and raging hormones. Migraines started atc50 with perimenopause... Can't wait for menopause to arrive , which I hope will be the end of migraines🙏🙏🙏
Good luck!
I found a triptan called maxalt was great. Also sumitriptan ok. I have recently discovered that gluten makes my migraine worse. I really cut back on it (for a different reason) and found my migraines almost disappeared. I was getting them twice a month and each lasted for 3-5 days. Now only one just before my period and is controllable with ibuprofen. Told my cousin who found rye was a problem for her and her migraines almost gone too. Worth a try!
Yes I agree there , I've cut back a lot and eat lots of salads and vegetables, water.
I get one migraine just before I'm due on , but found plenty of fresh air and 3 meals a day works .
I'm hoping this continues .
Dunno what age you are, but I have HRT patches that level out my hormones and help a lot. The pills didn't help at all, but slow release patches have made a big difference.
I'm 56 but no signs of menopause just migraine beginning and end of the month. Thanks
I'm 54. Perimenopausal, I think is the term, my periods have never stopped but became heavy and irregular. Patches really helped with migraines which I'm sure were connected to fluctuating hormones.
That's very helpful thanks
Hi Janine
Sorry to hear about your persistent headaches.
An alternative remedy that usually works well for me, is KALMS. It contains a herb called valerian root, which works well for my menopausal headaches. I would take one tablet, to begin with. It can be bought in most of the large supermarkets and chemists. It also reduces hot flushes and anxiety.
Your description of hormonal headaches, didn't tell me a lot, so I hope this helps.
Thank you so much. I will give it a go. I seem to get regular headaches at the beginning and end of the month in addition to migraine that have no pattern. So would be great to stop some of the headaches. Janine
