So many pills - not many good results - any self help ideas?

I unexpectedly started getting migraines, vertigo, vision deterioration, muscles problems, nausea etc in December, though the year preceding this, I was starting to get muscle problems and balance problems but no headaches. Since then I have struggled to work, struggled to go out due to severe vertigo and been pretty much house-bound, thankfully I work from home so managed to do some work when I can. MRI scan showed white lesions (which could just be age-related) so having a lumbar puncture next month to hopefully rule out MS. However, in the meantime, I am on the roundabout of different drugs. Topamax caused me to have severe eye pain and completely knocked me out. Gabapentin has taken the effects of mildly, so still on that. Codeine is the only thing that dulls the intense pain but trying not to take that too often. Tried Propanolol for 2 weeks and got runny nose, burning sensation in my nostrils, bleeding gums, sores around my mouth and this developed into sore/redness down below. Dr said never seen these symptoms but has now put me on Verapamil/Securon SR 120ml once a day building up to twice a day after 2 weeks. My blood pressure is 110/65 normally, so expecting this to lower. It went down to 104/60 when I was on the Propanolol. Interestingly, when on the Propanolol, the headaches really eased and the muscle problems went away completely (numbness, pins and needles, pain in joints). Anyone else experiences any problems with either Propanolol or Securon? I am worried about MS and DR said if it was MS the muscle problems would not have eased on Propanolol, however, I have read beta blockers are treatments for MS?! Anyone have any advice for self-help, getting really desperate to get back to normal!
