So in a nutshell: 64 years old, never had a migraine. 4 mths ago started seeing flashing light occassionally in left eye with pain behind the eye. 2 mths ago started to get pain around & under eye and sinuses, then 1 mth ago pain in temples, top of head, shooting pains sometimes, pain in front of ear and upper gum in my cheek. Dr did physical & blood work & checked for temperal arteritis, a life-threatening problem, but doesn't think so. Now having eye exam tomorrow. Also gave me antibiotic yesterday in case it is sinuses. My daughter had severe migraines for 20 years. All gone now. Question: My twin passed away 6 mths ago and I have been crying and so sad and just stressed everyday as I was her kidney donor and took care of her for 3 yrs after her stroke. Started to get nerve twitches occassionally now as I am so scared as to what this is. My daughter says it sounds just like her migraine symptoms and could be due to SO MUCH STRESS. So nervous and scared about it. Could it be migraines? I have been reading all your posts and pray for everyone. Thanks so much.

I'm so sorry to hear about your sister, I can't imagine what you've been through. It sounds like stress could be your trigger and you're having migraines, but I'm surprised the doctor didn't suggest it. Perhaps they're working from worst case scenario backwards. The optician will definitely help, even if it's to put your mind at ease with regards the flashing lights.
I'm not a doctor, so I can't say what it is for certain, but if you aren't getting answers, keep going back, see different doctors if possible, and you'll get somewhere. Perhaps see a counsellor to talk about your sister too, as that may help you work through all the feelings you have jumbling up in your head, as that won't be helping. Stress is my trigger, and I was getting one or two a week until I saw a counsellor, and then I didn't have one for 8 weeks.
Hope this helps,
Vicky
Thank you. Its great advice, all of it. I will keep trying to have the Dr rule out everything possible. Funny, how your post made me realize how no matter how sick my sister was she always believed she would get better. She was my hero. I know it will get better also, so thanks again. God Bless
