I'm a male in my 50's Started getting Migraine in 2000 have Migraine Aura without any Headache.
I used to get about 7 a month ,then started taking Magnesium Bysglycinate 150mg twice a day after consulting my GP that it was ok and also have B12 injections every 2 months the Migraines have decreased to 2 a month and interestingly always happen every 15 days which i find quite odd .I have looked at my diet too, keeping a Migraine diary .I don't understand this 15 day gap which is very strange.
I get 24 migraines a year but if i went back on Propranolol i would probably get ,like the last time i tried this ,around 6 a year.
but i don't really want to go back on betablockers if possible.
I have had a Mitral Valve Repair a few years back and am not sure if there is any connection Cardiologist's have told me no and Surgeons also say no connection.
Anyone else had this type of near predicted Migraine frequancy?

Hi there Advice1. I am a migraine sufferer of 52 years and have now exhausted all preventatives with the exception of Botox! With regard to propanalol, I have been taking this for around 10 years, gradually increasing dosage to 2 x160mg per day. Unfortunately it does not seem to have any effect on my migraines (with aura, headache, sickness) but as I also have HBP my GP has kept me on it. I also tried Topiramate for 5 months in the last year which made me very ill - as well as not reducing migraine. I am currently taking CBD oil which I feel is helping better than anything I have ever tried for migraine, although I am still trying to get the dosage right and NO SIDE EFFECTS! I'm afraid I can't offer any advice in relation to the 15 day cycle as initially I thought it may be hormone-related until I saw that you were male! I also take Vit D3, Magnesium Glycinate and Vitamin K2 but at quite high doses as per the Vitamin D Wellness group protocol on Facebook. If I can help re any of the above please pm me.
Hi I have suffered with migraines for years I am now 65 , I was having aura migraines with severe headaches twice daily for 2 months in May , but I have researched and I only have Migraine occasionally ,I take 80mg slow release beta blocker Propanalol twice daily , which really help, I also take alternative medicine ,I take daily dosage of B2 ,Also I have had a piercing in my ear in the rook which is very successful .I also have Botox in my face ,around the chin and forehead . Because my headaches were related to my painful neck trapping nerves , I now have manipulation in that area which have been a success ,my doctor also recommended I have steroid injections in back of my head 3 times a year ,they have been brilliant . This is the best I have been in years . Keep a diary and see what triggers your migraines ,my are cheese, coffee, chocolate, citrus fruit, and alcohol ,and also colourings .I hope this helps good luck
