Hi all could anyone tell me if they have had any dealings with the migraine surgery centre ? I filled in a questionnaire on a web site about
Hi poppet , if you are a candidate you will then have Botox to see if freezing the muscles helps with the pain. If it does the muscles are surgically removed. I did this in 2011 and had the migraine surgery. Unfortunately I,m not a success story, the pain around my eye is minimal but the throbbing now goes through the back of my head/neck along with all the neurological symptoms. I was told that I was unlucky and this happens to 1/100 patients but I,ll let you be the judge of that! I have found much better relief from reading a book called the migraine revolution by Martin Brink and following this mans advice. I would reccomend this over surgery and at £30 is a LOT cheaper! Good luck with whatever you decide
I had the initial Botox injections about three years ago. Unfortunately, they made absolutely no difference to my migraines so I was not considered to be a suitable candidate for the muscle removal.
Can any one exercise with their migraines?
That's great . Unfortunately for me these days any aerobic activity can really set me back . I can feel well for a few days then exercise and then be back to bed for days on end as a result despite eating drinking plenty around time of exercise and afterwards . Doing better with hill walking than other forms so pushing that but that seems a bit less accessible and more time consuming than any activities . Not like a 30 minute run or swim or cycle ride . Neurologists just shrug . Doesn't seem BP related as now on candesartan and therefore lower than normal . Wasn't like this when I had episodic migraine . Any one with similar difficulties overcome would love to hear ..
I have not had any dealings with the Migraine surgery centre, however I have had the nerve decompression (migraine trigger) surgery and have not had a migraine since the day of my surgery. If you are a candidate I recommend speaking with doctors about the surgery. Find out how many the doctor has performed how frequently. You wont regret looking into this. Good Luck!
