Hi,

the thing with clusters is that they come on so quickly, the imigran will not work in time. I suspect it's also not strong enough. I find that the only thing that works quickly enough is the sumatriptin injections (which the doctors don't like to give out too much). You could try the sumatriptin nasal sprays which are a bit quicker than the tablets. Also, have you discussed high flow oxygen with your doctor. it's a really good way of heading off an attack.

Have a look at the website for clusters called Ouch UK. they know everything there is to know about clusters. Good luck, it's a horrid illness.

Best wishes

Becky

Hi, I have suffered with Cluster Headaches for over 20 years. Imigran nasal spray is unbelievable, relief can be very quick depending how soon I get it. It is like a miracle cure each time I use it, you just can't believe that one moment you are in such pain and within 30 minutes you are completely recovered. I now keep some at the office and home so I am never far from relief if I need it urgently. I would definitely seek your doctors advice and give it a try. The quicker you get a dose when the cluster headache starts the quicker your relief comes on. I am prescribed 20mg dose, and usually your doctor can only prescribe 2 nasal sprays at a time.
