He has a headache tonight on the opposite side to a usual cluster headache and pain is in face and behind ear in neck has taken injection and its had no effect has any one else experienced this?
my husband suffers with cluster heada... - National Migraine...
my husband suffers with cluster headaches. He took sumatripan injection for the first time last weekend with immediate effect.
Yes, it doesn't always work, or sometimes it does but the headache comes back after 30 minutes.
I get headaches on both sides - don't take injections but do use a triptan. Experience is that headaches on left side (majority) respond to the triptan but any on the other side just don't respond and the only thing to do is, unfortunately to ride them out. So, I suspect it isn't that unusual.
Hope your husband feels better or at least feels better soon.
Glad to hear the sumatriptan injections are working for his cluster headache, that must be a great relief to him. It could be possible that he suffers with cluster headache and another form of headache eg. migraine. If that is the case what works for the cluster is unlikely to work for the migraine and vice-versa. Has he been to see one of our doctors?
