My husband has had migraines since a bout of occular shingles. The pain of migraines isn't severe and is controlled by meds.
The main problem is that the migraines are followed by a period of a week or more of feeling awful. No energy, dizzy, unable to concentrate. When he gets through this, he is fine. But another migraine may come on in a week. Reading up I think this is referred to as migraine postdrome.
Would be glad to hear others' experiences of this and what helps.

A week is a long time for a typical migraine postdrome. The classic is a couple of days predrome, a couple of days migraine pain and a couple of days postdrome. However "classic" migraines are rarer on the migraine forum as a lot of us are chronic, including me, so we are in a permanent state of pre, postdrome and actual migraine. When your migraines leave the pattern of classic migraines they are considered "transformed". Once they are transformed anything goes, this could include days of headaches, or being sick, or full blown migraine pain or just plain exhaustion.
I would hope that because this happened as a result or ocular shingles ( which I've never heard of but I presume is adult chickenpox in the eye?) The he might gradually return to normal.
But like Onthemove1971 said is he seeing a neurologist and is he on any meds, if he his he may need to change them?
