I am an 18 yo female who has been having headaches almost everyday for the past 3/4 weeks.
Before the headaches started I was feeling light headed for about a week and sometimes it felt like the floor would slip beneath my feet but I would still be standing.
My headaches have ranged from migraines, random throbbing pains or pressure in my head (not in one particular area). Especially when I try to close my eyes to sleep, I can feel the pressure- making it impossible to sleep.
This is concerning in itself and makes the pain worse. I saw my GP two days ago and she told me it could be muscle tension headaches but due to a high heart rate she will be carrying out a thyroid test and an ECG.
I’ve only just started university yesterday and I’m worried that the stress the workload will bring will only worsen the pain.
Has anyone had a similar sort of experience? Should I be worried?
Thank you

I have constant headache and was diagnosed with migraines, but they are due to a brain haemorrhage so I know the cause. I’m not sure what you’re headache cause is but it’s good you are getting it checked out.
The thing I can say is, I have since been to university and although it was very difficult, it is doable. I would advise you to let the university know, so they can support you where needed, like taping lectures or making allowances when you are ill. Do everything at your own pace and if you need help or extra time to do anything, don’t be afraid to ask your course leader for support.
Hope you’re results come back ok and best of luck with university 😊
Thank you so much for your advice! I agree the lecturers and course leaders are always encouraging us to tell them if we have any issues.
I did go to the doctors and she said my results were all normal and that I have a naturally fast heartbeat. She said she's not sure why I get headaches but thankfully they have decreased now but still make an appearance sometimes before bed.
