Hi Annie

Not eating much or being underweight can affect your periods yes. It can create irregular ovulation or stop it altogether affecting fertility. I can understand you being scared to go to the doctors :( you havent said how long you havent had a period for? not sure the affects anxiety/depression has but i know stress can affect it as well.

Thank for reply :) they have stopped 3months now up until then I always had very regular periods heavy and for 1week. My doctor is nice but the receptionist who books me in over phone is horrible to me, never gets doc to ring me back and tells me I can't make an appointment need to go to open surgery at 8am wait in a Que

But my children go to School and with my anxiety I can't sit in a waiting room full of people :(

Hi Annie

That's rather unhelpful of the receptionist! If you have had regular periods and no issues in the past then its not normal and might be for a number of reasons. If u think u could make it to the doctors, insist u make an appointment by phone, id suggest going and getting advice about this. Are u getting support from ur GP for ur anxiety/depression?

My doctor gives me support when I go see her but not until then. I see a psychiatrist and behavioural therapist but it's not working in getting me eating again

The receptionist is so cheeky one example I rang for blood results she said all's normal 3 days later got a letter in post saying my bloods rant ok and I needed medicine for low bloods and bones :( I'm at my wits end with them and seriously considering complaining to the nhs

Thanks again for advice x

Hi Annie

Just read your other replies, that really isn't good enough on the receptionists part with your blood results. Are you able to change doctors? Or is that not a possibility?

I would consider complaining if you feel that strongly...if it is causing you further anxiety that is a real issue. I've read so many times on here the problems people face before even getting to see their doctors due to staff etc.

I would report the receptionist immediately. The woman should be fired. im fuming for you. There are a million people who would love to do her job and are far less likely to cause damage! Rediculous. Please send a comaplint letter to them please

Insist on speaking to Dr. sit in surgery, and tell him you find receptionist very unhelpful, how is he going to know anyway. Thats the only way you will get help. Could you get a family member to go with you to GP . Do have eating disorder do you think? one way or other. Please get help soon, you are a mother and need to be well for your family too. Love. yes it can be normal to have anxiety, with depression, well last year my periods stopped for seven months, and then returned after taking vit pill with iron. Theres me hoping that I was on the change,, as my food fads and cravings stopped, and suddenly couldnt drink tea anymore. God I enjoyed the peace,, it gave me. Sadly they returned, my boobs hurt, had my very low points which I increase my meds by 10mgs,, for those days, then go back to the normal 40mg, that works for me.

You have to take charge of your body, it maybe you have gone off eating,, that could do it. go to gp, and just check. xx dont forget he gets paid for seeing you,, your not doing him a favour, its your body!!!

Hey thanks for advice but I can not go near my GPS the receptionist is to cheeky and now my anxiety is through the roof with worrying about what way they will treat me :( I don't have an eating disorder I have a problem with my throat when I put food in my mouth I feel like I'm choking and spit it back again this is going on a year from the horrific birth of my son and suicide death of my brother inlaw

You really need to go to another GP or get advice from a mental health provider. These receptionists should not be able to tell you they can stop meds just like that. It's the GP's decision , not theirs. And when you do get to see your GP tell him about his receptionist.... she needs reporting. We had one at our dentist and I called her 'The Rottweiller' and actually changed dentists because of her. All the very best to you. xx

Finally got the call from gp went and seen my cpn today who rang my gp they said I should not have been refused my meds I was supposed to be given an appointment with her as routine to see how I am doing before another script would be giving she said sorry and will be seeing the receptionist! So from now on I will deal with gp and not the receptionist

Love annie xx
