8.8 pound weight gain and 33 point BP rise in 2 days due to water retention?

I have been on a serious low sodium/low calorie diet and exercise program since 01/01/21. I also cut out all caffeine. The weight loss (and BP drop) has been gratifying, and I hope to be at my target weight by Easter Sunday morning (April 4, 2021.)

I had long planned to feast (scarf out!) at dinner on both Saturday and Sunday in preparation for Lent. So last Saturday morning (02/13) I awoke (well hydrated) and weighed myself. #241.4. Beautiful.

I continued to eat carefully/healthy at both breakfast and lunch on Saturday and Sunday. I kept up my fitness walks -- 8.54 miles on Saturday and 9.04 miles on Sunday. I felt like a bull moose in the rut during each walk! Very strong! At dinner on both nights I really feasted:

• 2 1/2 bratwurst sandos each evening.

• Large salad of Roma tomatoes, avocados, sweet onion, bread-better pickle chips and thousand island dressing.

• 6 ounces plain tortilla chips.

• salsa (Saturday night only.)

• 6 ounces of pretzels (as an appetizer of sorts.)

• 12 ounces of bakery cookies.

• 2L Diet Coke.

I weighed myself this morning first thing: 249.2 and a 33 point gain in my BP (135/74 vs. 102/55.) A #7.8 weight gain! I also exercised hard enough so that I would have lost an additional pound over these two days had I continued to eat healthy. So a total weight gain of #8.8! Fascinating!

I realize that most of my gain is water weight and it should be largely lost by this coming Saturday morning when I weigh myself again, but I am still astounded at such a large gain! A gallon of water weighs #8! Is this normal?

Thanks for reading. I would love some constructive comments. Thanks!
