Phimosis Concerns

Hi, I am a 19 year old Male. I have always suffered from a non-retractable foreskin since I was a child. I have never went to any medical help due to shyness and also due to the fact that I experience no pain whatsoever. The only downfall I currently face is the physical appearance which bothers me, especially when coming into sexual contact with other individuals.

I understand that there are several types of Phimosis, according to this article and the diagrams that it presents, mine lies under type 3: phimosisjourney.wordpress.c... . I am not sure whether this is a serious issue in which I should seek help immediately for it or if it is something mild and I am simply worrying too much about it.

As I already said, I feel no pain whatsoever which is one of the reasons why I never went to check it out.

Any help on the topic would be greatly appreciated as I can't seem to find a straight answer regarding such an issue. Thank you!

From what you've described it sounds like you have a relatively mild case. With some patience and persistence you can resolve the problem without much worry. As long as you aren't having pain, issues urinating (ballooning), or other immediate problems resulting from the tightness then I wouldn't stress too much about it. Gently stretch the skin until you can fully retract it and be aware that it will take time.

There is nothing wrong with an uncircumcised penis, some people prefer the look over a circumcised one while others are reverse, but the majority of people won't care either way. At the end of the day the person ought to like you for who you are as a person, not what's in your pants. With that said, this is your penis and your decision on what to do with it. While I don't typically suggest circumcision, that is a personal choice only you can answer but I would say to consider it carefully.

As far as shyness, it is understandable but realize that doctors see lots of men and lots of penises every day. Don't let the fear or embarrassment prevent you from seeking medical assistance if needed. I've been there with the shyness, however, you can be surprised how quickly you can get over it if you try.

Thank you! I'll try stretching out. If the case remains then I'll seek medical attention.
