Hey guys! Was wondering if anyone has the same experience as me. It's been 4 weeks since my circumcision and I've still been unable to get the "normal erection" but do get the night erections here and there...... Is this normal? Just to add more a little more, does the stitches prevent me from getting a "normal" erection as my stitches are still there

4 weeks post circumcision but unable to get sexual erection
Don’t worry about sexual erections - for 9-10 weeks you shouldn’t even be thinking about masturbating or penetrative sex.
Your body is still healing - as is evident to you visually. Even after the sutures come off the body is still healing internally for some months.
Once the penis feels more healthy you will feel more confident and get sexual erections. So let nature do it’s job and you give yourself time to recuperate.
Hey man! Thanks for the advice, was really panicking as I've asked around my friends who had the same procedure and had slightly different experience. I guess I was too anxious about it =D Appreciate your reply my guy
Non problem. It’s normal to be anxious about all this stuff. Your doctor should have talked to you about this and given you an understanding of how this will go. But most docs don’t do that now days.
It’s great to have forums such as this where others who are knowledgeable or experienced can provide input.
Hi XXD96 - I'm (72) and just 23 days post-op. My stitches were 'self dissolving' and my surgeon (NHS in the UK) said they would start 'dropping out' after 14 days (actually the last one came out today). I wonder if you had 'regular' stitches that required removal by your doctor? But dont suffer in silence. If you're worried I'd recommend you make an appointment with your doctor. Good luck. 👍
One step at a time. Focus on recovery first. It's a good thing.
Hi XXD96 & MagicStick - Forgive me, I'm smiling at your question - I wonder if you're assuming that by being 'so old' 😜 (it's ok, I know I am). But in my defense (and head) I'm 72 going-on 42. My wife and I both stay fairly active, we're life-long non smokers, we eat and drink healthily and walk a few miles daily AND perhaps surprisingly to some younger folks we are (or at least, were) sexually active. That was up until a year ago. By accident back than I tore my foreskin during retraction. I had noticed my foreskin appeared to be feeling quite tight. After a month or two I was unable to retract my skin at all. My doctor diagnosed the onset of phimosis and prescribed me a cream (Daktacort) to use twice daily. I was to smear it under my foreskin. It's hope was to soften or make my skin more supple. After 2 months it became impossible for me to get my finger between my skin and my glans, so I returned to my doctor for further advice. That was August 2021. He referred me to a specialist urologist who recommended I have a circumcision. I agreed happily. My planned surgery was not put-on-hold but delayed by Covid-19 and our NHS being so busy in other departments. So instead of a 2 or 3 month wait it resulted in nearly 6-months wait. My op was on 3rd Feb '22 in Canterbury Hospital. I was in a Day Clinic (meaning we're treated and sent home the same day) as indeed I was. As I said before I opted for a local anesthetic over a 'general' as I didn't fancy the sickness and wooziness in 'coming round' after the op. My op lasted about 30-minutes (my foreskin was cut and dissected in pieces as parts were actually stuck to my glans) I was released from the ward about 2 hours later. My surgery has (is) healing very nicely. I was allowed to shower 4 days after surgery and have been showering daily since. My stiches are now all dissolved. I never experienced any pain but obviously we are not 'active' sexually yet but hope to be in the near and not too distant future. All this said, my wound though is quite sensitive (but not in an unpleasant way) when I clean or touch the glans and the rim. I have had a couple of 'semi's' but nowhere near a full erection, but considering what our bodies have just gone through I am not surprised or worried. Nor should you be. I hope my experience comforts or helps you (or others) in some way. Good luck to you and all of us that are going through this minor trauma. 👍
Hi. Northants myself. Canterbury NHS is supposed to be good. Seems the NHS are now doing circumcisions under locals! Previously, only GA's.
It's my knowledge they always did. My own clinic doctor said they used to do 'em at the clinic (much like a vasectomy is now) I was given the option for local or general and it was my preference to have a local. Mainly because there's no after effects. I guess it also helped that I'm not squeamish about needles and surgeries. Its a bit like going to the dentist as most procedures are performed under a local. I also had the option to actually watch my procedure although my surgeon recommended I didn't. I agree too, Kent & Canterbury (like most of our wonderful NHS hospitals is well regarded). A week after my procedure we took a 'goody-bag' of chocolates and biscuits for the team on Kent Ward that oversaw my care that day.
Hey thanks for replies and yeah I came around and realized I probably was getting too anxious..... I'm only 25 my man and I have to say I'm happy with the procedure but it was probably all the unknown around the situation that put me into a fear frenzy! I had the dissolvable stitches which I was told that it would come off in 3 weeks and it still hasn't come off yet which just added fuel to my panic i guess =)
Anyways, appreciate the reach out man and god damn I thought it was tough doing this procedure at my age but you my man...... you're awesome
From my experience, I was having this issue until my stitchers were there. It’s due to little bit of our anxiety as well about the stitches.
My erections are good now after the stitches were removed, however I do have glans sensitivity little bit after removed the dressing but it didn’t cause any problem with erection and the sensitivity will go in time as per already experienced people.
My doctor’s statement: Most of us facing this issue due to our doubt about erection. Once the stitches are removed and wounds are healed, the erection will be normal.
For now ignore about it, it will be normal automatically…
I'm having the same issue, could you update your experience? Thanks a lot in advance.
