20 days post op from circumcision

Things are healing nicely although I have a few dissolvable stitches remaining near where my frenulum was previously. For the first 4-5 days I had issues with a bleeding at one site that prompted a trip back to my urologist. He suggested pressure, and tighter wraps held in place for as long as tolerable and that did the trick. Glans sensitivity and painful erections lasted for about 10-11 days. Starting at week one post-cut, I liberally applied vaseline to the incision site and wrapped my penis in gauze, and am planning to continue to do that most days until all of the stitches fall out. I think that this definitely helped to speed up the healing process. At day 20, I can shower now with no pain and very slight discomfort in one area. Erections are literally fantastic now. I’m 38 and I thought I was having problems with ED, but as it turns out, I was turned off from sex due to my horrible phimosis. I’m at the point now where I get hard when wind blows, and it’s not been that way for me for at least a couple of years! There was one section where a stitch popped that didn’t heal the way I would have hoped, but regardless, it healed and doesn’t feel as if it’ll be detrimental to normal function. My incision line is still rather rough/bumpy on the top and swollen on the underside of my penis, but the message boards here tell me that all of that improves with time. I’ve gotta admit that I became discouraged between weeks 1 and 2, but keep vaseline, gauze, and supportive underwear handy for the first 3 weeks at least. It gets better!!

38 Day Update: Slow, but continued improvement. Less swelling, scar line is still rough but looser and less tender. Had follow up with urologist today, and he was very happy about everything. Stitches came out on the right side early on, but urologist isn’t worried about out. I’m so glad I had this done. Erections feel stronger, but I’m still getting into the swing of masturbation. This forum has been a lifesaver!!

Thanks man. Spraying pee for the first 2 weeks. I have one lone suture kind of hanging out, but the rest of them have dissolved. I used petroleum jelly and wrapped with a light dressing every day until week 5. Sometimes, dissolved sutures would adhere to the dressing after removal. Just be patient and let nature take its course. It takes months for everything to fully heal, and I wish my urologist told me that the recovery would take longer than just 4-6 weeks. Fortunately this forum helped to reset my expectations.
