Getting Circumcised at 40

Hey fellas. I’ve been experiencing chronic erosive balanitis and some phimosis. My doctor recommended that I get circumcised. I’m really nervous about the pain and losing a part of myself that I’ve had for such a long time.

My urologist recommends a circumcision and a frenuloplasty because my foreskin is a bit tight. Are those two procedures done at the same time during the circumcision?

I’m worried about the pain and soreness after. Any support or tips you have would be helpful.

If you had a frenuloplasty, what was that like?

Thanks!

I had both done although as two separate procedures. Neither gave me any pain, the worst part was the anxiety beforehand but I needn’t have worried and wished I’d done both years before.

Most discomfort as reported on here, is to do with hypersensitivity of the hitherto unexposed glans following circumcision for severe phimosis. If your phimosis is only a recent thing and your glans has had plenty of exposure it likely won’t be uncomfortable.

Some also find erections can be uncomfortable for the first week or so. When the stitches dry out they can be a bit prickly.

That’s about all really.

Mostly the operations are done at the same time under a local or general anaesthetic. Their may be some post-op pain but it is usually controllable. Until you are healed, any erections are often uncomfortable. Most guys seem to be able to cope well with any pain and discomfort. Let your surgeon know about your fears and I am sure he will reassure you.

The surgery itself is easy. The recovery sucks. I was able take off month from work. I say prob first two weeks I left house maybe twice. I say week 3 stitches came out I was able to function with clothes but most part stayed naked waist down and let penis stay up to help swelling. Also drain bladder at night to avoid night erection which sucks. Also too at least for me anesthesia made me itch for few days.

There is video on YouTube my circumsion recovery it goes week by week on this guy recovery and it helps.

I had mine just over 6 weeks ago. The surgery is easy like Brian says, but for me the recovery was also pretty easy. The first 2 days were the only time I felt I might need the pain meds prescribed (Norco), after that no need. Stitches had dissolved by days 14-16 and by now I can handle the scar without discomfort, 1st sex with the wife yesterday.

Highly recommended you have complete conversations with your Urologist about where to place the scar line, make sure he will preserve as much as possible of your nerve rich inner foreskin. Mine preserved all of it with the scar line at about mid shaft when erect and I'm very happy with the result.
