Hi, I feel for you because I struggle too. I was on an antidepressant for anxiety last year because I was so overwhelmed with stress/anxiety it was crippling me and I think perimenopause is the culprit. I ended up having a BIG meltdown and was off work for 4 months. The antidepressant helped settle things down and also helped the hot flushes. I came off the medication to try another medication that helps with anxiety and pain (I have a pain condition also) but it didn't agree with me so I've not taken any meds since last summer and I feel another meltdown looming. My stress/anxiety is off the charts at times, I can't switch off, I over think everything and have started having mini panic attacks in my sleep and it sole destroying. I've tried to get a crip on my anxiety but perimenopause makes you feel a way I've never felt before and its not fun. Anyhoo, I've decided I'm going to go back on the antidepressant as it helps with a lot of the perimenopause symptoms including the mood swings. I've got a few days off work coming up so I'm gonna wean myself back on it. My advice to you is see if there is a mental health nurse at your GP practice and speak to them as the one at my surgery is amazing!! You don't need to take medication but they give you amazing advice and it helps to speak to someone who gets it. Or speak to a GP, I've got antidepressants and can go back to get HRT but for now I'm going to try the meds again and see how I go. I wish you luck. Reach out if you need to talk. Take care 🙂 x

I take Starpowa snooze. I used to be able to sleep on a washing line, worked nights on and off in the hospital, slept through dogs barking and mowers going in the summer.

As soon as I got to the menopause it was like a switch being flicked.

I very rarely sleep all the way through now but at least these help somewhat.

I think a lot is psychological too. Now when I wake up in the night I don’t look at the time on my phone especially if I have to be up early.

If I do it’s in my head how long I have left to sleep and that’s always a killer for me dropping off again.

Hi!

I would love to tell you about a supplement that I stumbled on, quite by chance. It’s made a remarkable difference to my life. I have slept almost soundly for the past month. Anxiety is still there, although it’s not as bad as it was before. I regularly take Apigenin now about an hour before bed. There are no side effects, and it is wonderful for people like myself who are prone to anxiety and sleepless nights. There are so many benefits to it that it’s worth googling.

I buy it cheaply enough online from eBay. I have tried mainstream doctors medication for anxiety and sleep deprivation, but this is derived from plants and it’s fantastic!

Best wishes xx
