Hi to all the suffering women out there. I was just wondering if anyone else wakes up to extreme tiredness and fatigue where they can’t stop yawning. Is this yet another symptom of perimenopause 🤷♀️😩.

tired in the morning
Yup! That’s me. Wake up early, bright as a button and no chance of further sleep, but feeling exhausted. That can be from anxiety brought on by hormonal changes, but exhaustion can also be from blood loss. For me, I’ve been bleeding three and a half weeks out of the last five and it brings a deep fatigue that nothing will shift. I’ve tried multi vitamins and iron tablets, liver, spinach, and nothing really shifts the fatigue. If I can rest and maybe nap in the day, that helps, but life doesn’t often work that way. Some people bleed a horrific amount during peri menopause. I have a GP appointment coming up where I’m hoping he will adjust my HRT medication, as life is very difficult to cope with at the moment. I have heard of people getting blood transfusions because they’ve lost so much blood. Certainly, I would say that the exhaustion is worth talking to your GP about. Also, try and develop a “mental health toolbox” of activities that you can do that reduce anxiety levels for you. That will be different for everyone, but could include mindfulness, deep breathing, pilates, singing at the top of your voice, going for a walk, having a long bath, bird watching. Looking after your own sense of well being is important anyway, but particularly so when you’re going through peri menopause. Know that you’re not alone, anyway!
Hi,
That moment when you realise you are not alone!
Yes when you go to sleep early before 10pm but still wake up like I’ve only been to sleep an hour before! Also wake up occasionally feeling like I’ve got a hangover but haven’t had a drink! Looking and feeling fatigued and yawning! Do have iron meds and thinking a GP visit to tweak my HRT or have bloods as it’s relentless.
Good luck
I completely agree with BeeHoneyB here. Your symptoms can be attributed to menopause, but also other causes, such as thyroid, low iron and vit B12 and D amongst other things. Don't be fobbed off with just being treated for menopause, just because you're a certain age! I would first be asking for full bloods to rule out any other causes before embarking on anything else.
If they do check your thyroid and bloods, it's also worth posting the results on the Thyroid UK and Pernicious anaemia society (re: B12) before believing everything the GP tells you!
I speak from experience of finally treating my own nutritional deficiencies and feeling better than I have in years! Good luck! 😊
Hello! Saw the word "fatigue", and knew I needed to check this out. When I was pregnant 8 yrs ago, I was slightly anemic. My midwife suggested taking liquid Chlorophyll. I did, and I felt so much better. Since then, I've taken it almost every month, a week prior to the start of my bleeding time, and it does really help. (just took some today, actually) It may be worth a try. I do feel a boost in my energy.
Another thing that helped me, is powdered alfalfa. I mix it in smoothies or just lemon water, and down it. Besides having high chlorophyll, it is full of vitamins and minerals.
I hope this helps!
