Does anyone know if I can insert Utrogestan 100mg pills vaginally as my GP won’t prescribe the actual vaginal version?

Hi there. I was told you can and I did try. Although I was told that the dose was 200mg so i did two. Can I ask why you were asked to have them this was but why they can't give you the pessary version?

🤔 It could be a good idea to discuss oral versus vaginal with your GP. There could be a good reason why you were given this specific type.

Currently vaginal progesterone is widely used, since the classic oral progesterone seems to result in a low bioavailability and a lower pregnancy rate. However, vaginal administration of progesterone is associated with vaginal irritation, discharge and bleeding.8 Aug 2018

Thank you wobbly bee... I did ask the practice nurse and she said it was "off license" so they were not able to prescribe it. The other thing I was thinking was maybe I could take 200mg a day orally as I seem to tolerate it. I am speaking to the nurse again later to see what she says. I do get the impression that there is no exact science and one needs to find the optimum dose that works for us individually. Would greatly appreciate your thoughts.

I know from my own experience that it comes down to trial and error..not everything suits everybody..and while some people experience side effects from meds and vaccinations, other people are totally ok..It usually pays to research, ask GPs advice, and go with your gut instinct..

Hi there...I follow Dr Louise Newson a menopause specialist on Instagram. Her website and Balance app has lots of resources and evidence based information.

She's also has podcasts which are really useful.

Perhaps your GP can prescribe Crinone 4% twice weekly.
