My 35 year old contracted bacterial meningitis in February of this year. He was hospitalized 3 weeks in neuro ICU, on 5-6 continuous antibiotics drips, on ventilator for a week and had drain inserted to brain to relieve pressure and fluids. This started as an ear ache and then streptococcal pneumonea and peusoda monas grew from the fluids. This has left him bilaterally blind. Has anyone experienced blindness from BM? We have heard there is a clinic in Berlin Germany that can restore vision from optic neuropathy. Anyone familiar with this clinic? Thanks in advance for any and information or advice

bacterial meningitis
Hi,
My 59 years old mom was infected by BM Oct last year. She was in ICU for 2 weeks and hospitalized for almost 3 months. She lost most of her vision until now. The doctor diagnose that the cause of her blindness is optic neuropathy. I'm also looking for Doctor / clinic which could help to restore her vision but haven't found any.

Thank you for sharing with me. We are hopeful the clinic in Berlin will be beneficial. If they accept my son I will share his experience so that your mother and others may consider it. I pray your mother’s sight is restored. I know the hurt you must be experiencing and it’s tremendous. Let’s stay strong and be there for them as we know they would be there for us.
just keeping those who are interested updated. My son has been accepted to the clinic in Berlin for electrical stimulation of his optic nerves. Once passports are issued will be going for treatment. Prayers this is successful in restoring at least some of his vision. Will share his experience and results afterwards. Continued prayers for all who are suffering post menigitis symptoms. It’s a terrible disease, but remaining strong and determined to conquer it makes it possible to overcome it is my belief.
just an update. We are leaving for Germany tomorrow. My son’s first optic nerve treatment is July 1st. Praying this is the answer to have his vision return. Miracles happen everyday and we’re praying for one.
