I was diagnosed with viral meningitis after a spinal tap in 2006. Years after the infection, headaches would appear whenever something was wrong (sickness, flu, injury, etc.). Now I am finding the headaches to be more common when nothing is wrong and I am living my normal life. I am wondering if anyone else has had a similar problem and what they did to treat the headaches?

Long-lasting effects of VM
I have had chronic migraines since VM 4 years ago. I was referred to a Neurologist and have had various meds over the years that worked for a while then became less effective. I now take a monthly migraine preventative injection (Ajovy) and have had significantly less headaches. I also have Nurtec to take to stop the migraine if I feel it coming on.
I suffered the occasional migraine, sometimes going months or even years at a time between. They run in my family. I have recurrent VM (7x and counting) and they got worse after the first VM bout. After the 4th they were horrible and I see a neurologist. I also tried different daily meds over the years and am now on a monthly injection (Emgality). It is pretty effective. I use Fioricet for when I feel a headache coming on. My advice is to find a good neurologist/headache specialist.
Thanks a bunch for the help! I definitely agree that finding a decent neurologist is in order. Thanks again!
