I had meningitis in2014 due to a Toscana sandfly bite in Portugal. Since then I am experiencing numb tingling burning hands at night does anyone else get this it is only at night. 4 neurologists later and No one can help. Would appreciate any insight into this and what drugs if any are you on.

I’m just reading your post and the burning and tingling in your hands seems unbearable. I am sorry you are going through this. I haven’t any suggestions for you. I pray someone else who is suffering with the same symptoms can help you. I just finished my month of oral Amoxicillin yesterday. So I’m not on any more meds for the Meningitis. My problem is neck and joints.

Morning Princess

Thankfully it’s only at night during the day it’s ok. They were bad last night. So this morning I thought I’d teach them a lesson and went and did a 1km sea swim at 6am That ll teach them!. (Prob be worst tonight though as they seem to be worst after exercise, oh well you have to teach your body whose boss.

I hope you keep up your recovery it seems we all are affected differently. X

I suffer with same problem after having had bacterial meningitis 15 years ago. I have also have stinging and burning sensations in my legs and feet. My neurologist recommended amyltriptaline. They worked for a few years. I am now on Duluxotine but it’s not helping greatly. I wish u well.

Hi there. It is always worse at night whilst laying in bed but it usuallly starts early evening around 6 o’clock when I am sitting down to have dinner. The pain is sometimes unbearable and it stops me from getting to sleep. It is always worse in winter. My neurologist says my nerves are always in a heightened state and they don’t know how to calm down and it is not unusual for these symptoms to be present after a brain injury and that is what swelling of the meninges is.. hope this helps.

This happened to me too. It was unbearable. I’d pace around at night because the pain was so bad. In my case, it was my legs that hurt the most, but I’d have numb hands too. I had meningitis and encephalitis from West Nile Virus, a mosquito-borne disease. The first month or so was the worst but then it gradually left over many months. I hope it does for you too.
