My name's Jade. Im my youth I was a globe-trotting Zoologist (though read snails rather than lions, tigers and bears!), and now I'm a associate practitioner working in a hospital (will respond to "lab rat") who's cramming her evenings studying genomic medicine hoping to because a genetic counsellor. *waves*
Wanted to start with that because I don't like to feel like my health conditions are my main defining characteristics. But I did find this place because I was trying to study and feeling a bit down. Well, more than a bit down.
In 2009 I encountered the more "gentler" meningitus form - its viral cousin. Almost died. Lost my memories. Changed my personality. And ruptured my body. I will happily argue over the misconception (in my humble opinion) that viral meningitus is gentler than bacterial. xD I have been diagnosed with fibromylagia largely I think because of my constant debilitating muscle aches (if aches mean being stabbed by a sharp object). And sometimes my sarcastic dryness helps me get through those pain days, and other days... well that's what brings me here I guess! Looking for fellow warriors to carry me through those "other days"please!
ps; Was a big deal for me though may come across as shallow - I had all my long hair cut off the other day as couldn't deal with the headaches and washing it on my bad days was just too much. Has actually helped so so much! Though have ordered a wig in the post to make me feel good and can't wait Any tips from fibro sufferers would be gratefully recieved!

I am really benefitting in every way from taking CBD tincture in the morning. I take 4-6 drops once a day when I get up. My brain is functioning better and I have a lot more energy without the jitters and queasiness that comes from caffeine. Actually, since I had VM, I cannot tolerate caffeine.
If you can get your hands on some CBD, it's worth a try!
I'll have a read up of CBD - thanks for suggesting My job is quite fast paced though - do you find it relaxes you too much? Do you take pain meds as well (if you don't mind me asking?)? x
Hi..I had a bad magnesium deficiency & read massively. People with fibro most likely have a mag deficiency. If you get tested do the RBC MAGNESIUM TEST.Not the serum test!! Most docs aren't familiar with the test so you have to push. It tests in the cells where it matters. Also if you can get all your vitamins & minerals tested. COQ10 is another one that could be low..won't hurt to take some, it gives you energy. Eat clean, not alot of screen time & take it easy. Much of this society is low in crucial vitamins & minerals.
Magnesium Glycinate is good..mag oxide is the worst.
Ah I work in a pathology lab and I do not think its a routine test - which may be why GPs do not know how to request it. Any specialist tests that we have to send away to external hospitals also get charged, which can be another sad reason why GPs may be reluctant to test for it I'll have a read up on it - thanks for the advice And I guess in the meantime there is no harm in looking into vit/mineral supplements too. The problem is - I take a lot of meds already, and I'm really bad with taking them I wonder if there are food sources I can up to get those missing vits. My OH is a veggie so my diet takes a vegetarian focus (even tho I'm happy eating meat myself, I do not think it's fair to have that around). I'll get researching
Beans, lentils, seeds and nuts ftw! Especially pumpkin seeds, cocoa and soy beans for Mg, I reckon. 2 brazil nuts a day for the selenium. Good luck, co-fighter! Tell the snails I say hi ^^
