Strep bacterial meningitis

Hi everyone, my dad got diagnosed 5 weeks ago with bacterial meningitis, he was intubated for sedation for about 3/4 weeks, he is now awake and being weaned off the ventilator, he is slowly regaining strength but fine motor movement is very limited, once the trach is out we can better assess his neurological status. He knows who my family is, where he is, and that he wants to go home. Wondering if anyone had a similar situation to see how others are doing
