Hurts to the touch

Hi guys

Just a quick one...

I don’t know how long it’s been happening and always put it down to being ill with bouts of kidney infections or other illnesses along side the effects from meningitis ... but just wondered if anyone else has felt there body/skin hurts to rub, touch pat it etc, like if someone taps/slaps ur leg to maybe rub some fluff off etc... the littlest touch hurts; not excruciating but it’s uncomfortable?...

Thanks 🤗

I had vm 12 months ago. I have very sensitive skin too, but had put it down to my surgery or another chronic pain condition I have. I think experiencing chronic pain can cause such sensitivities. I found the info on retrain pain.org helpful in understanding how pain works.

Hi there

I hope you’re doing ok!

Yea I have so many issues you just think it’s to do with something else as there is no list with every side effect on ay and yea I’m always in pain so wouldn’t surprise me.

Thanks for that I’ll take a look!

Have you seen that it’s a side effect then? 🤗

I've not read up on meningitis specifically. But I have read you can get issues from any condition causing chronic pain or after surgery. A brain injury or inflammation logically could cause it I imagine if it affects a part of the brain that interprets all sensation signals, equally so can things like Fibromyalgia which is I think an auto immune condition.

What diagnostic process did you go through? And how do they plan to treat it? I've thought about being seen by rheumatology for it but then it can fit with ME too which I'm already diagnosed with and I'm not sure I need another label for what probably is the same thing.... 🤔

Hi Starry apologies never saw this reply.

Fibro contains me but is different.

Who diagnosed you with me?

Fibro is a lot about fatigue, but also a lot about pain, and several other things. etc.

Oh right. Never heard of one of them. All i get told is rheumatology or neurology diagnose them

Not sure all areas have them, they vary by region. ME Association has a postcode search to find out.
