After 7 months of going through all the hell that this brings to viral meningitis I now have the rash...anyone know how long the rash lasts? I am feeling better now but want to get rid of this rash that has now appeared.

Hi, the rash is not actually caused by meningitis, I believe it's a symptom of septicaemia, and septicaemia with VM is, I think, rare. If you had septicaemia though you would be extremely ill indeed so it could be an allergic reaction or other type of rash, probably best to get it checked out by your doctor though. I had near fatal VM 16 years ago so I can assure you it does get better, it takes a while but things usually improve. Good luck, Jonathan

I've never had a rash with VM. I did however become septic with one of my VM episodes, April of 2016....deathly ill but even then didn't have a rash that i know of , as i saI'd i was super sick aND in the hospital for a whIle and kind of in aND oUT of it so i cold hAve missed it. I guess I'm no help but I sure hope you get to feeling better soon.

I had a rash, but it was several days after I was hospitalized . They kept asking if I had one, and said no, and then the itching started. My partner sprayed rubbing alchojol on it and it burned but was better than the itching. It seemed to manifest itself to scoriosous now on arms chest and scalp. May have had it on scalp a bit before, but seems it has spread. Using an alcohol based liquid perscibed by by pcp and is finally getting better, but been a while. I took I’ll sept2017.
